Okay, I hadn't bothered with Pottermore since getting my official welcome back on August 26th; at that time the site seemed rather clunky and navigation difficult.
Since then I've been reading nothing but complaints about how difficult people have been finding accessing the site is, so I still didn't feel any need to go back.
But more and more people I know from here on LJ have been getting in, and some sending me friending requests, that I decided to try to get back onto the site today.
Accessing the site wasn't too bad, I DID get a few "site busy" pages a few times, and once when I went to deal with laundry I came back to my computer to find Pottermore stating that the page I'd been on had disappeared, perhaps hiding under an invisibility cloak, so there may be a timer on the site that checks for a user's inactivity and closes them out if they've been inactive for a certain period of time.
Anyway, I finally figured out how to get the hell out of Diagon Alley, thanks to others having the same problem and posting about it in the Comments section of the Diagon Alley page, and someone giving the answer that we needed to look for our Hogwarts shopping list laying on the ground farther along the lane. So basically you get rewarded for someone being a litterbug.
So I made it through my shopping trip, got my wand, and made it to Hogwarts and got sorted. Collected a Morgan LeFey chocolate frog card along the way...
Anyone who's interested, here are my stats:
I'm StoneScarlet188.
My pet/familiar is a Screech Owl.
My wand is chestnut with dragon core, 12 1/2" long and brittle. The site gives the following information regarding such a wand:
CHESTNUT:
This is a most curious, multi-faceted wood, which varies greatly in its character depending on the wand core, and takes a great deal of colour from the personality that possesses it. The wand of chestnut is attracted to witches and wizards who are skilled tamers of magical beasts, those who possess great gifts in Herbology, and those who are natural fliers.
However, when paired with dragon heartstring, it may find its best match among those who are overfond of luxury and material things, and less scrupulous than they should be about how they are obtained. Conversely, three successive heads of the Wizengamot have possessed chestnut and unicorn wands, for this combination shows a predilection for those concerned with all manner of justice
DRAGON CORE:
As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner.
The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.
WAND FLEXIBILITY/RIGIDNESS:
Wand flexibility or rigidity denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair - although, again, this factor ought not to be considered separately from the wand wood, core and length, nor of the owner’s life experience and style of magic, all of which will combine to make the wand in question unique.
And I got sorted into Slytherin! Yeah!
Now I can start schooling the pseudoSlytherins who have apparently been sorted into the house by mistake, if what I've read on a couple of Pottermore-related Facebook pages is true...apparently some Pottermorons who have been sorted into Slytherin thinks that being Slytherin means you have an excuse to be an asshole and insult and flame others with abandon...
