Today was the first day that I could do full barbell squats again. It was good to find myself back in the squat rack, to feel that cold iron crushing my traps and threatening to collapse my rib cage. I did a few pain free warmups and then 1 set of 10 with 315 to feel things out. Towards the end of the set, I felt a ticklish sensation on my upper leg so I decided one workset was enough.
I also did rack deadlifts which are different type of torture. Surprisingly I have gotten a shit ton stronger from not doing deadlifts, because I was able to knock out 10 reps with 315 pretty quickly. That's not to say that I didn't take a 3 minute nap between sets. Yes, yes I did.
My little boy Slim gave me a little bit of a scare over the weekend. Aslan and Slim were taking a vacation at
bewareofwalrus's house when she called me about a possible medical emergency, a bladder obstruction.
Unfortunately I was about a mile out from my house when she called, but I walked back as fast as I could and zipped over to her house to get Slim to the emergency clinic. We waited for a little bit and spoke to the doc while he was operating on a dog that had been hit by ladder. The news was not as grim as I feared, but Slim was a bit uncomfortable with his UTI.
Slim has made a near complete recovery and is up to his usual sleeping and eating routine.
Nothing else remarkable has happened, I am off to bed.
