U - Umbrella - Charon and Nemesis (Augury) For subsiding_leaf

Augury College boasted of - among other things - picturesque walkways paved with stone and shaded by weeping willows and other foliage. Some of them meandered so far from the actual buildings that it seemed to be a road to a different world. It was along one of those pathways where the late summer thundershower caught up with two students returning to their respective dorms after a study session in the undergraduate library.
"Oh, darn!" Nemesis cried when a quick rummage through her bag yielded no umbrella. It wasn't cold, per se, but the rain was coming down in sheets and the trees weren't doing a very good job of giving shelter against the onslaught. She could already feel it starting to soak through her hair.
Suddenly, the constant patter of fat raindrops against her face stopped, and she looked up to see the rim of Charon's plain blue and white umbrella held over her head. She blinked, but the confused expression was lost on him because he was scowling with his face turned away.
"Come on," he said impatiently. "It's big enough for two."
She straightened and hefted her bag. "Okay, thanks."
He rolled his eyes. "Forgetting your umbrella during this time of the year is just dumb," he muttered unkindly under his breath, but that didn't stop him from giving it to her when they reached the fork in the road and there came the time to part ways.

"So, I hear you two are dating now." Amatsu said gleefully.
Nemesis blinked, hand stilling halfway in the motion of taking out the flyers for the Fall formal. "What?"
"Some girls were bemoaning the fact that they saw Mr. Tall and Handsome over there-" Charon glared daggers at their co-president, "walking with you, under the same umbrella."
"It was raining," she felt it logical to point out.
"But it's CHARON."
Sentinel took the flyers from her, rolling his eyes. Of all the people who shouldn't be teasing others about dating, Amatsu was high on the list. "Come on, guys. Back to work."
"Was I supposed to just let her get rained on?" Charon said in his defense. "It's not my fault if those imbecilic girls want to mistake common decency for romance."
"But it's YOU, Charon." Amatsu said again. Shiva elbowed him.
"See if I ever do anything nice for ANYONE again." Charon muttered under his breath.
