It's Monday and it's a pic post. I know - a rare treat to start your week! Even better, the pic count for this bundle of goodness is 42 - a number of significance and great meaning for those who know the question.
As is typical, this is a team effort.
xtina and
jasra both made large contributions to this feast.
Oh, fair and early warning - there is an illustrated breast in one of these pics - see if you can find it!
I'm good for the first 13 pics...
Ya know whose favorite time of year it is? Mine!
Now, many of us can just step outside now and see such beautiful visions. Even so, they are still striking and worthy of sharing with those who can't see such things in their area, or whom are trapped in a basement somewhere.
Next, a reminder from the sad, sad past. It bothers me on so many levels.
So, for those without bionic (or at least supernatural) vision, the copyright on that is 1977. This toy is a tangle of contradiction. So, here you have your bionic woman - a female superhero, improved by the power of science. Dressed smartly in some kind of track suit, she looks ready to go. Go where, you ask? To fight injustice? Oh, no no - that wouldn't be bionicy-lady-like. Down to the bionic salon with you. And don't worry your little head about that track-suit - we'll have some designer collector fashions available for you any moment now. Now I wonder if they gave she-hulk the Green Machine Beauty Salon or some such.
That's it, 1970's - I'm sending my love via winged monkey-teddies!
Feast, my pets, feast!
From the world of things that are probably old to everyone except me - Beartato! I just found it last week and already it has delighted me it so many ways.
Plus, we should be able to call hats. Just sayin.
Energy drinks are popular among the kids nowadays - the Mountain Dew of the current generation, if you will. I'm unconcerned. The side effects are only wonderful.
Apparently, being on energy drinks is like what it is like for me all the time.
Next, a seasonally appropriate picture that I found striking.
Sure, it has a bit of creepiness in it too, but it's that kind of beautiful creepy that appeals to me. You know... kinda like this hat.
Mind you, after you have seen a couple hundred of these hats, they don't seem all that nifty anymore. In my travels, I've been places where this was pretty much the only kind of hat you'd see - and you'd see it all the fricken time. It was enough to make me miss good old wool pull-on caps.
In other news, I am totally NOT trying to hypnotize you.
Anyone who suggested such is full of lies. You can trust me, not those bad liars. It will all be good.
In other non-hypnosis related news - among the secret plans of the Nazis that never got anywhere - robot nutcracker armies.
That's not to say they didn't build them; it's just that, as defined in the real laws of robotics, they immediately turned on their masters.
For those of you that didn't know, purple - it is my favoritiest of all colors...
This pic also has a surreal, mechanical but magical quality to it. I thought it was amazing.
Speaking of things amazing - this river reflection pic -
I'm not sure where it is. India I guess. Wherever it is, I'd like to go there and see it in person. However, there is a long list of such places. For example: these cliffs:
I'm guessing somewhere around the England, Scotland, or Ireland - all places to which I've never been and wanna go.
The last picture in my batch is a perfect transition. For those of you all who don't know,
jasra is wonderfully crafty and good at concealing her nature behind a more innocent-looking facade. However, for those of us who know better, we see right through that.
...and it's a good time, let me tell you.
Speaking of
jasra, she was good for for 11 pics in this set...
She knows that I'm fond of beautiful visions of clouds and dramatic skies, so she sent her love along in this form.
and likewise this one, which really makes me want to be out on a tropic island right now...
Some helpful botanists wanted everyone to have a chance to understand the inner-workings of cattle. So using the skills they had at their disposal, they came up with this helpful illustration of a cow's digestive process.
Now, as an entity responsible for the development and nurturing of alternate moralities among mortal beings, I have some special insights into certain things. Such as being able to tell when "evil" is afoot. As a rule, it is very subtle. For instance, this pic...
It's loaded with evil. Packed!
This pic, on the other hand...
... completely devoid of evil. Sure, you're probably thinking that she's going to do something evil because of that hat. No, no. Likely she is going to do something silly. Not even evilly silly, just silly.
So, let see, if you can do this. So, this squirrel: loaded with evil or just loaded with nuts?
The answer: pure evil. This squirrel is stacking people like cord wood in his basement.
And how about this guy? Pure evil?
No, he's just stunned because he lost his saving in a ponzi scheme, run by that squirrel in the previous photo.
I have to say though, the evil business isn't what it used to be. In truth, it used to be all about going counter to the enforced design - you know, in that whole bringing fire to humanity type way. Now, everyone is in business - and you can have your forbidden knowledge shipped to you overnight in packing peanuts.
Of course, it's not quality forbidden knowledge. When you get the good stuff, from someone such as me, you'll know it. It changes your whole world view.
You can also tell you got the good stuff because you will be rung out and sweaty afterward - like this...
and your soul will be perfectly safe afterwards. Well, mostly. Ok, perhaps, it won't be. That gets settled by a roll of the dice, and the consulting of a table. But the odds are in your favor that it will work out well. Plus, you get to roll yourself, and you can use these dice.
What could possibly go wrong?
Speaking of that which will lead you from the path and destroy your soul,
xtina was the big contributor to this pic post, throwing down 18! Here we go with those...
xtina likes to send me things that remind me of when we were first dating. This poster - with this strong black themes, horns, floral and plant symbology, and the image of the delicate beauty riding a powerful force - is just like it was when we first met.
I was wearing a lovely orange dress on that evening, to the best of my recall.
Continuing our evil or not question line from above, I submit for your consideration this kittah:
Not evil at all. Unless you consider the fact that the kitty is out looking for a Starbucks. Or that if you get if you get in between her and her coffee, you will suffer the pain of a thousand deaths. But otherwise, it's all goodness and light. Moonlight, that is.
This next pic I love for a variety of reasons. The black markings remind me of my sigils. The way her figure almost fades into the background lends a softness and subtly to the picture (and, by now, you should have noted that I have a thing for the subtle). Alsowise, the red - of the bird and of her lips - provides such a vivid contrast. The picture has a quality that makes me think of death, yet the red gives it a shot of life.
Next, we have another place that I'd like to be. Especially for hiking.
Of course, that hike makes the hikes that I've gone on up to now look like a walk to the corner store to pick up a bag of M&Ms and a half-gallon of 2% milk, which will all promptly be consumed upon arriving home. Even so, it draws me - probably because it wants to bruise my feet beyond all reason.
Here is a beautiful piece of jewelry...
I particularly like the spiral in the metal work - and the beetle-green highlights on the stone. It has a good magical talisman look. Good for warding off all kinds of things.
For instance, the thing in this next pic. Looks like a twisted tree, right?
Well, if you've learned nothing else up to this point, you should have a least picked up on the repeated notion of great evil hidden in subtle form. This twisted entity adds minor corruption to everything, stealing away a sense of order or beauty.
Here's an example of some of it's work.
Note how its not overtly grotesque or anything? Yeah, that's how it gets ya. Clever thing.
If you let it get to you, soon it will eat up all the structure and sanity in your mind. The world will become a disjointed mass of nonsense.
Rest assured, my mortal friends, that there are counter-forces as well. Which work in exactly the opposite direction. Those forces, however, are not as overt as something like this:
Rather, the work is subtle...
and there are places where beauty dominates over the forces of corruption...
and moments where it seems that all is somehow right with the world...
and when you can see that not all parts of the design are intended to hold you back - rather that they can free you.
Just don't get too comfy though. After all, the world does want to eat you too.
Even the plants.
What I recommend: a peaceful line of work. Like gathering cloud-wool.
Or investing the tricycle of the future!
Just don't get too caught up in the tech stuff though. Sure, it's great at first, with your ipods and internets and picposts, but then the next thing you know, giant eagles and huge horn robots are driving humanity from the streets.
or did that already happen? I do seem to have the pics from then.
Whew! Long pic post is long; Hope you enjoyed it!
