Mother's Day

In the middle of grant-writing hell, my guys managed to give me a beautiful Mother's Day weekend (Yes, MY Mother's Day lasts all weekend long, so nyah...)

Saturday, Cam couldn't wait to give me the clay rainbow dinosaur he made: "Shh, I'll give you a hint--it's a dinosaur."
swords_and_pens made me a wonderful dinner: Scallops with beurre blanc, roasted vegetable risotto, and lemon pudding cake (gluten-free and light as a meringue) with fresh berries. I have pictures, but not ready to upload, for those foodie masochists in the crowd. The boys behaved while we actually got to eat and converse!

Sunday, I got to sleep in, eat a peaceful breakfast while the kids were at Sunday school. The sun decided to shine and I finally got to tackle the weeds and grass in my garden. Evan was a total weed commando--"Die, thistles!", and brought out every garden implement of destruction we own. He was quite keen to get into chemical warfare, but I had to hold him back until the digging was done.

And Cam decided it was time to take off the training wheels and ride by himself! He asked me for a push off and he did it on the first try. He had the biggest grin on his face--"You look like you have tears, Mommy." He was unstoppable after that, and spent the rest of the day riding up and down the block, quickly learning from Evan how to start off by himself and turn corners.

That night, shopping, gluten-free pizza and Iron Man 2.

Now back to grant writing hell.  But it was a great weekend.

PS. Happy Birthdays to Green Jenny and Katriona
