TGS Report - Part 1
I CAN'T SLEEP, DANGIT. ;_; I'm not sure if it's because I'm still in a happy mood or because I haven't eaten a thing since lunchtime (I... wasn't hungry, so...) but since I was damn bored on the bed, might as well use my waking time to type up this report.
Before Tokyo Game Show 2006
It was Natsukomi all over again. Everyone from the Kaihin Makuhari train station was heading towards Makuhari Messe. I didn't even need to bother looking at signs to look for the building, I just followed the crowd! XD I arrived at the station at exactly 10am, when TGS finally opened their gates but the queue to go in was already DAMN LONG so I had to line up for 40 minutes or so.
Highlights of the queue:
- 4 nerdy men grouped up with their NDS
- A Denzel-lookalike boy with glasses. HE WAS SO DAMN CUTE. D8
- People with weird hair colour.
- The old man standing beside me was very... chatty. He was pretty much talking to me as if he was talking to himself so I just gave him simple responses. He got fed up of the long queue and decided to leave and come earlier tomorrow. The funny thing was that the queue had a smooth move straight into the building a minute after he left. >_>;;
Square Enix's Booth
I... screamed once I saw the huge KH poster. Three times. (KINJO MEIWAKU) Then I was like "WHERE'S THE CLOSED THEATRE WHERE'S THE CLOSED THEATRE" and it turned out that it's right behind the KH booth. XD I looked at the sign board at the start of the queue, and it said: "At this point, you'll be able to enter at: 1pm". I checked my watch, it was 12pm. "...... OH WHAT THE HELL" I went straight into the queue. I could hear FFXIII's trailer music playing damn loud from outside the theatre and that made the wait even worse. ;_; The whole booth had Organization members as staff. Okay, not really, but they had big "XIII" printed on the back of their shirts. XD
Anyway, here are my impressions of the trailers that played (I'm skipping BC FF7 and DoC FF7 Lost Episode because I don't exactly know what's new about them 8D;)
In the order the showed up.
Monotone
GOD, THIS GAME IS CUTE. XD Best game trailer to put as first because they had the beginning going "It seems the colour and sound of this video has been stolen. Please wait for the hero to show up." And he did and saved the day! XD I laughed when the screen was showing that you could buy ringtones and cellphone wallpapers of Squenix games (I saw FF and KH in the list) from the game.
Subarashiki Kono Sekai
Whoa, this game looked a lot better than I thought. The music was damn good, a mixture of dance and techno? Would it sound weird if I said that part of the dance music actually sounded epic? Shiki spoke and she sounded a lot like Nakahara Iku (Namine's seiyuu). I think Neku yelled out something somewhere but no way I can judge who's his seiyuu from just a syllable. >_>; Gameplay looks fun, especially the battle parts. (I liked how the battle footages went synchronized with the music! They better put up this game's trailer online because I love it!!) The story seems to get a lot deeper and darker by the end of the trailer. The guy with white-ish hair seems to be... the villain?? He had a gun and around the end he was aiming at Neku.
God, I want to play this game so bad now. D8
Also, the Seifer-lookalike and the blonde kid with hat seems to be... together. You see the Seifer guy carrying the kid like this...
.... TWICE. THAT KID BETTER BE A GIRL OR I SHALL START QUESTIONING NOMURA'S VIEW OF MALE FRIENDSHIP AGAIN.
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
1st Reaction: SUZUMURAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
2nd Reaction: AERITHxZACK SCENE AAAAWWWW (YEAH, IN THAT ORDER; I'M JUST THAT EVIL/DIRTY)
3rd Reaction: HOW MANY WINGED PEOPLE ARE IN THIS GAME!?
4th Reaction: ......GACKT!? IF NOMURA HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS...!!
Gameplay looks awesome! I wonder how that slot machine thing works... Is it just me or did I see Turk faces on it!? >_>;; I could see that Zack was talking to Cloud twice (and was talking about him once) but they never show Cloud himself, why is that?
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children - Complete
Oh my, new scenes. 8D
Oh God, dirty Kadaj/Rufus thoughts getting into my mind out of that new scene. *blocks eyes with hands*
Final Fantasy XIII
It's an extended version of the trailer we've already seen but the extension is mostly of more soldiers, monsters and explosions. XD You get to see a little bit more of the heroine, anyway, so it was all good. It just felt really damn awesome to finally be able to see the trailer on a huge HD screen with good sound system.
Final Fantasy Agito XIII
I wish I can tell if the main blonde (the one you see in the middle of the Agito group poster, the person with the cards) is a guy or a girl because I'm torn between describing that person as "hawt" or "pretty". I was surprised to see this cellphone game actually getting a full CG trailer, actually. D8 It was damn epic. The main blonde person entered the school, then into this room with a large crystal hanging from the ceiling, then s/he cut their thumb and put it on top of a... platform that had these... patterns (OH SCREW MY ENGLISH ;_;) and the platform shined brightly and some cards showed up on top of the platform. The blonde happily took them but then once the clock struck 12, the crystal suddenly cracked and then exploded THE WHOLE BUILDING. Amidst the fire and ruins, the blonde was laying unconscious on the floor but weirdly s/he didn't even get a scratch on him/her. The trailer ended with the blonde's cellphone ringing with no one to answer it.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
THE TRAILER I'VE BEEN WANTING TO SEE THE MOST. It felt like my heart stopped beating once the trailer started.
OPERA MUSIC. 8D Is this really composed by Shimomura!? Anyway, the trailer started by showing Mr. No Socks sitting on his throne, asleep. Then he woke up, walked out of the room and out of the building, and he found dead men lying on the stairs and hundreds of soldiers gathering outside. Then the soldiers started shooting him, but bullets repelled and Mr. No Socks' swords showed up, blablabla you pretty much see the stuff you see from the screenshots but all animated.
I'm happy that we finally get to see the trailer for real now, but I'm slightly miffed that we didn't get to see something new. :( But oh well... I FINALLY GET TO SEE MR. NO SOCKS IN ACTION AND THAT'S WHAT MATTERS. *SCREAMS*
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
Er, you already know what's in the trailer by now so there's nothing much for me to say... Except that I had to put both my hands on my mouth to force myself to not scream at seeing Axel and Roxas together on the tower, and then force myself to not laugh and loud at seeing Axel with the sea-salt icecream.
Kingdom Hearts Re:Chained of Memories
MARLUXIA HAD THE FLOWER PETALS XDDDDDDDDDD HE OPENED UP HIS HOOD AND WHOOF CAME OUT THE PETALS HAHAHAHAHAH!!!
EVERYONE HAD VOICES. MARLUXIA'S VOICE WAS SO DAMN SEXY. There's something about the way he slurs his "S"es that made his voice so damn sexy, GOD DANGIT HE SOUNDED SO FAMILIAR BUT I CAN'T PUT A FINGER ON WHO MIGHT BE HIS SEIYUU. (Edit: According to X-Heaven, he might be voiced by Ikeda Shuuichi) Larxene sounded like a slutty Kawasumi Ayako (while X-Heaven is putting a guess on Emori Hiroko), which is great. I liked seeing how her hair moved every time she moves her head. XD They also showed the Sora VS Larxene fight, too. She was pulling a lot of combos at Sora right at the start of the battle. D8
Vexen sounded... like the Pope in Xenosaga Episode 2 (JP version) except not that old, of course. He sounded a lot better than how I imagined him so that's good. XDD Lexaeus sounded like Lexaeus. (Buff and all, I dunno how to describe but it fits his looks, anyway) As for Zexion, at first he sounded like Ishida Akira but after that he didn't, so I dunno. XDDD If I have to choose from any of Ishida's roles to show who Zexion sounded the closest to, it'd be Ryouji from Persona 3 (the guy with yellow muffler) but in lower key because he was sounding all mysterious and stuff in the trailer. I felt like squealing when I heard him end his sentence with "desu". *_*
And finally, at the end... Seeing the knight from Sunset Horizon getting pwned by someone else (not shown on screen) was damn awesome. Despite that people keep saying he looks like Sora, he really doesn't. At least his hair is too different. But man, I'm really loving that guy's glare. (munekyun...)
Chain of Memories demo
As I said before, I had to line up for 2 hours. 8DDD Well, at least I didn't mind staring at the huge KH poster in those two hours.
You now stock your cards using the triangle button, and you can move your deck with the L1 and R1 buttons, and also the directional buttons. Some sleights are extendable by pressing the triangle button repeatedly (in the trailer, you get to see Sora putting in multiple hits on Hades as you keep on pressing triangle so I hope this means all those damn hard boss battles are slightly easier now).
The camera angle kinda... sucks but I think they made it like that on purpose. >_> "Where's the next door? *looks at map* Oh, on the left. Left, left, le-- WTF HEARTLESS *BAM, gets into unwanted battle*"
I got into normal battles too often that time went up before I could even get to the boss battle (if there is one). ;_; They gave you options to choose Traverse Town, Olympus Coliseum or the Hades fight on the Start menu. Yeah, I wonder myself why Hades gets his own place in the demo. >_>; I did the Traverse Town part, if anyone's curious.
Here are a bunch of photos of the huge poster. If KHU is down, Yuuki has better photos, too.
There was also this damn cute Chocobo while I was queueing for the closed theatre again (yeah, I watched the trailers twice. >_>).
There were so many KH cosplayers, too!! (Too scared to take pictures of them, sorry) I saw a Riku with a Sora, an Axel with a Saix, a group of Marluxia, Larxene and Zexion, a group of two (or three?) Roxases and an Axel, and the scariest image of all: KH1 Leon and KH1 Sora holding hands and happily walking together. I also saw some Persona 3 cosplayers!! There was a group of P3 Hero, Yukari and Aegis, a Farlos with another P3 Hero, and a Sanada with a Mitsuru. FF7 cosplayers were a bundle, of course. I was just amused to see a Zack, Sephiroth and Cloud together. XD
Part 2 will be about the other game companies I checked out.
Edit: Looks like KHU already got their hands on better photos of the poster so ignore mine and head over there! XD;
Oh, I didn't know people haven't heard the Advent Children news yet. o_o They're porting the movie to the Blu-ray disc (while also adding some new scenes, like I mentioned above).
