Masa & Baba Garu★Para Q&A
This short Q&A was linked in Baba's last entry the previous week so I deemed it fitting for MnE. :) It's from a web/mobile site aimed at girls. Actually Masa had a similar Q&A for this site back in April, so I thought I post the answers for the two of them here. [10 Questions for Nakagauchi Masataka]
Q: In which way can you relate to Hayato, your character in your current drama Wild Strawberry?
A: I say clearly what's on my mind, I am very like him in this aspect.
Q: Among the people you're performing with, who has impressed you the most?
A: Seki Tomokazu-san.
Q: And why has he left such an impression?
A: Because he is an amazing person! Thanks to Seki-san, we had fun constantly .
Q: You had the opportunity to design an accessory for the Wild Strawberry collaboration, but what's the accessory you always wear?
A: A ring. I wear it on my index finger or middle finger.
Q: You had your CD debut this February. What kind of thoughts went into the album Stand Up!?
A: The feeling that I want to spread my wings more and more [1], and my gratitude towards the fans.
Q: What kind of music do you usually listen to? What was the first CD you have ever bought?
A: Lately I've been listening to rock music. The first album I brought was Watanabe Marina-san and Suzuki Ranran-san's Taiyou to Hanauta. (laugh) [2]
Q: What was your childhood dream?
A: I wanted to be a soccer player or a policeman.
Q: What kind of role would you like to play in the future?
A: Jack Sparrow! [3]
Q: Nakagauchi-san, you're someone who has the ability to cheer up others just by being around. What is the source of your vitality?
A: It's having an objective, a purpose in life.
Q: As a man, what kind of personality traits are you aiming at?
A: I want to be someone who's open-minded and generous.

[10 Questions for Baba Tooru]
Q: In Kizumomo you play a young freelancer who lives an uninhibited and extravagant life. If you hadn't become an actor, which career would you have pursued?
A: I've been playing soccer since I was 3 years old, so I'd have been a pro soccer player, I think. I suffered a serious injury during a match and I constantly had to stay at home for rehabilitation, so I watched a lot of movies and series in the mean time. After a while I started to think: "How would it be, being in the world of TV and movies myself, I wonder...?" And like this, I took a step forward on the road of becoming an actor.
Q: You and (your costar) Furukawa Yuuta-san have already performed together in a musical. How was it to play together in a movie this time?
A: Yuuta has already been a dear friend of mine, so I was happy, being able to be his partner.
Q: This time around you stay on location all night, so tell us an episode from the set.
A: Kawai Ryuunosuke-san, Yuuta and me, the three of us share a room. Usually I was the last to return to our room. By that time, the two of them have already finished getting into the bath... (laugh) [1]
Q: How do you spend the waiting time between takes?
A: We are always fooling around. (laugh) We filmed the scene where I play basketball with Kawai-san the first day already, but since it's the first time I'm performing together with him, I thought it would be nice getting to know each other a bit. So from that night on we always had a nice chat.
Q: Are you very into somehting lately?
A: I'm into cameras. Recently I got a camera from one of my relatives, and I was like, "Whoa, that's awesome-!" (laugh) I ask my friends to be my models, or I bring my camera to location and take pictures of the surroundings.
Q: Kizumomo depicts the friendship between men, but what type of person to you tend to choose as your friend in real life?
A: I like people who are on the less serious side, so among my friends there are a lot of people who like to joke around and be in high spirits. (laugh) But when it comes to work, they usually become pretty serious... Someone who has his own opinions, someone who can respect his own will, that's the type of person I'm usually friends with.
Q: You get along very well with your brother (soccer player Baba Yuuta), do you often talk about work-related things?
A: We often go out eating together, but we rather talk about private life than work. We don't really want to amateurishly delve into work-related things, because we respect the way the other thinks about his own work. But he comes to see my plays many times and always praises me, like: "That was really great~!".
Q: Baba-san's forte are sports, what sport are you most passionate about right now?
A: Iya~, soccer of course. They even have it at the Olympics!
Q: Is there a famous person you admire?
A: I really liked Sanada Hiroyuki-san [2] ever since I was small. I would like to become an elegant, cool-looking adult, like he is.
Q: You are active in many fields, stageplays, movies, television. Is there something new you want to try your hand at?
A: As an actor, I'm still evolving, so I would like to personally experience as many things as possible. Since I like works which depict profound confrontations and relations between people, I definitely would enjoy participating in such a production. I want to meet different people and experience numerous things through this.
