I decided when I was working on my Tudor outfit that I'm tired of my petticoat. I made it from a diagram in The Tudor Tailor. It's a regular petticoat, but attached to this funky little bodice that ties up in the front. Well, no matter what I do I just cannot get the straps to stay invisible under my kirtle, and it just drives me nuts to see them sticking out. So I ripped the bodice of the skirt. I think I'm going to use the fabric, adding a little more fullness with the left-over fabric from my stash, and make an 18th century style petticoat. I've wanted to make one for a while, and I like how they're easy to make and adjustable. Besides, I don't think anyone will be lifting up my gown to check if I have a perfectly accurate petticoat on, and I'd rather have one I can use for several outfits.
