I was feeling stressed this week, so I dusted off my old trusty P&P for some relaxation. Which, as all costume dramas do, inspired me to do some more Regency work.
I pulled out the pieces of my
white regency which I had torn up at the beginning of the year. I like a lot of things about how the first draft turned out, but there were things I wanted to change. Looking at the photos I realised it was really too full in the back, and the bodice was too short, so it wasn't as flattering as bodices that sit right under the bust. So I removed one panel from the skirt, and used the extra fabric to cut a new bodice front. I am also going to be cutting new, longer sleeves. Rather than this one being drop-front, I am instead going to close it with drawstrings. The drop-front was a fun idea, but drawstrings just stay put better!
I feel very period in ripping up my old dress to "re-make it in a new fashion". But as a poor student, I really can't afford to waste good fabric!
