Despite earlier preconceptions and first impressions, I have actually really enjoyed this week! :P Going home on Thursday probably helped but I'll start on Tuesday night when we went to see the alternative/indie night at the LRV (Leek Road Venue).
This was pretty cool - pints were no longer a pound each which was unfortunate but... cant have it all I guess. Still, we were out and about and the drinks were no more expensive than in most clubs I go into back home so it was ok. The live bands which were playing inbetween the rocky DJ-ed tracks were Friends of Ken and Ross... um somebody... he was ok- but very American and slightly annoying (in an "I've got girls falling all over me and I know it" kinda way) so we wont mention him, other than to say he did a good version of Sweet Dreams.
Friends of Ken had a crazy frontman who really played the crowd- even going so far as to run off the stage at one point (whilst playing his guitar)and run around the crowd for a bit, before climbing back up to finish the song! :O Rock and roll! Their style was kinda punky/poppy/vaguely indie, but they were definately very good at hooking you and most of the songs had good riffs and/or catchy lyrics. One critism and one critism only - the lead vocalist, whilst I enjoyed his performance, was an idiot, it has to be said. I think he made a proportion of enemies in addition to friends with his eccentric antics (if you see what I mean).
Anyway, on Wednesday my computer decided it hadnt enough memory to load photos... errrm yeah... bit of a problem there no???? So, even though it has a massive 45/55Gb free, I've had to buy a new 250Gb hard-drive to go with it :S. This I knew I would have to do eventually but didnt expect to so soon and it has altered plans for a new camera lens this term... Still,
play.com surprised me by getting this out to me within 2 days :O and that was when I'd ordered it at midnight on the first day too... Absolutely first class. I also have bought a final poster to make my room feel more like home... yes its an Iron Maiden one... but you already guessed that didnt you? :P Also, my parents offered to get me a radio too, just to keep me in-touch with the world... after careful conideration I asked them to just buy a set of speakers and sub-woofer for my laptop :D :P
Finally, Thursday saw me return home. I had my driving test on Friday which I passed wth 6 faults so I was DEAD chuffed with that ;P Means I'll be able to dive over Christmas which is most appealing... well hopefully I will be able to anyway... :S *crosses fingers* *touches wood*. Hazz came over on Friday too, and in the evening we went out for a meal with my parents to celebrate the passing of exams, the start of uni and my drving test. Pizza Express was the restaurant of choice and a most enjoyable meal was eaten - including toffee ice cream sundae with fudge chunks... *drools*
And so the weekend ended with me working and seeing some lovely folk one last time before uni season well and truely sets in. It was a hurried goodbye for most people and for that I'm truely very very sorry. I wish I couldve spent longer in Sheffield NOT working, but hey... we all need money right?
So here I am and whilst I've been away they've already had a falling out in the house... DAMNIT... I sound like big brother
Glad I went away ;P...
