I have been superbusy, which is rare for me, as I prefer to laze about. I kid you not, I am the perfect candidate for a trophy wife. Minus the "trophy" part.
In unrelated news, I just looked down and realized my finger was pink. It might have something to do with all of the cookie icing I did last night. I don't any photos of the icing, but I do have some of the baking, which was an adventure! Basically, Christy and I mixed up the dough, which then had to sit in the fridge for awhile. Once Laura (
earthangelgirl) got there, we took it out to start cutting out cookies. The dough was too warm, so we put it back--this time in the freezer--and watched Howl's Moving Castle (a gift from
kouryou04--thanks, Sam!). After that was done, we tried the cookies again, but the dough kept getting too warm, so we were forced to work with speed. And finesse. Which, basically, resulted in an awful lot of flour, all over us and everywhere else.
See? So much flour. That's Laura there.
But the cookies came out pretty O.K.
See?
Christy's the hippest baker around.
What you cannot tell in the above photo is that I was shaking the spoon and yelling in an effort to keep things moving.
Man, look at Chris's floury sleeve. You can't see the bottom of Laur's sweater, but it was covered (my fault).
Quick! Roll quick!
Eventually we got tired of the cookie-cutter and made our own shapes. Christy is responsible for the best-looking stuff, like the bow and the duck (which somehow became a chicken upon icing), and also for the state of Virginia.
Evidently, we love VA.
In the past 24 hours, I found and read through two new webcomics (well, new to me anyway). They are:
"Roza and the Horse Prince" - Only 21 pages of this so far, but the art is gorgeous and the story is promising, so I'm keeping an eye on it. There isn't anything about when it updates, however, so I suppose it'll be a guessing game for now.
"Gunnerkrigg Court" - This is a comic from a newcomer (it won the
Webcomic Choice Award for Outstanding Newcomer this past year), but it's already got some 10 chapters and a book under its belt. Also, I really, really like it! I've attempted to sum it up a couple times just now, only to go back and delete, so I'm just going to say that you should check it out and leave it at that! Its creator, Tom Siddell, is number 25 on
Comixpedia's People in Webcomics list for 2006. Comixpedia also has an interview
with Tom up this month.
Lastly, I found while clicking through
deviantArt last night this furniture company, and I think I'm in love. Mostly because they specialize in woodworking based on the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Mission and Arts and Crafts movements, with some Mission in there, too. It is called
Dryad Studios. There is the link, and they have a
dA page, too.
I close with a quote, from Laura while watching Howl: "I love you, Christian Bale! I don'y care if you're animated and married!"
