It's a wide-spread judgement, that all mahlerists are also brucknerists. Both composers belong to late romantism (close to expressionism), so the styles are similar. But there is a difference between them: Mahler's music is more expressive and daring, with much more small soul half-tones. What about Bruckner: he is more religious, not so expressive in his emotions, his musical language is less different than Mahler's ( for example, in his scherzos ( that I also like) the main thema often appears as it was at the beginning (1st, 3rd symphonies...), but Mahler repeats the same very seldom). I think no one composer builts music on such effective contrasts of dynamic and temps like Gustav!
What else different you can find between them?
