A couple of days ago I've discovered an interesting blog: the
Happiness Project. Gretchen Rubin is testing several methods that have been suggested to enhance ones personal happiness.
Apparently, tidying up is a key activity for Ms. Rubin to become happy. Well, though I do feel better when things are not as chaotic as they happen to turn once in a while, the process of cleaning up is pretty much the most frustrating activity my husband and I can imagine. It doesn't make us happy, on the contrary. That is why we quickly searched for a new home help ...
But yes, it is true: not getting things costs a lot of energy - probably much more than doing things. So why do people tend do procrastinate? I feel so much better after having done a chore - I'm actually a little proud of myself (or a lot, depending on the job ;)
Reading something like the Happiness-Blog or Getting Things Done or Simplify Your Life is so motivating! Well ... motivating to read on. But I don't get things done just by reading about it ... It's like buying books in preparation for an exam. As if having bought a book was as good as reading it ...
So. I've posted two entries in
Ranas Journal. It's not a lot, but I have been putting it off for so long. And I'll try to be better from now on. Just as I have tried a million times before. Maybe some day it will work? ;)
