I got my newest issue of Vogue today (not sure why I'm getting Vogue either. Secretly suspect I'm part of a marketing scheme to see if inundating staunchly nerdy girls with fashion stimulus will effect a change. Refuse to conform and wear my sweats in public anyway).
Anyway, there on the cover was a headline about The Vice President's Beautiful Women. And it was talking about Biden. Who as far as I know is NOT the Vice President yet. And may not be.
It is so irritating to me how politics plays out in our American society. I can't stand how mean and angry people get when they discuss politics. It really bothers me that people just assume that there is a good guy and a bad guy and that you are choosing the side of good or evil when you express an opinion. I am really annoyed that the media is so clearly pro-Obama. He might be the best man for the job, but the sheer peer pressure makes me not want to vote for him. My own father- who I generally consider to be a sensible and intelligent man, repeated a story about a radio host that said Obama might be the antichrist. When I questioned him, he said it might be true and that Obama wasn't really a Christian. Seriously? I mean, for one- America is not mentioned in Revelations at all. For two- come on! I think that it is a difficult reality for people to grasp that two people can both be Christians and arrive at widely different results. So they try to say, Well- so and so isn't really a Christian. What they're saying is that so and so doesn't agree with them. There are a few things that if someone doesn't believe, you can definitely say they aren't really a Christian. Like if they don't think that Jesus is the Son of God. But things like economic policy? I think if we were going to make Christian economic principles policy, we'd look a lot more like a true communist government. Argh.
Anyway, I am home after an excruciating day of trying to do WAY more work than is physically possible for me to finish by next week and also pleading my case at JEA to no avail (WHY won't they just switch electricity over to my name? Instead, they are making me pay a Ginormous deposit so they can turn it off and back on again. Stupid.) Then my mom and I spent a few hours working on setting up my apartment.
There was an Ace of Cakes mini marathon and that and a catch up episode of Chuck (High school reunion! Chuck having a geekasm over a computer! Ben Savage? Short!)
And all is back to rights. I am going to curl up with my newest Charlaine Harris novel (I'm on Club Dead. I completely love her blend of vampire/fantasy world and Southern family drama and mystery.)
