A/N: It might be a while before the next chapter of this goes up. My brain is kind of burnt out. I’ve posted like four new chapters between 2 stories in the past 2-3 days so I need to shut down for a bit to decide where this should go next. But enough yammering. Enjoy.
Sam was lying in bed dozing when he heard a knock on the door. Frowning, he carefully extracted himself from the sleeping Dean and padded over to the door. He felt his anger flare up when he saw the person on the other side. He pushed the man back and closed the door. He continued to push until they were far enough away that Dean wouldn’t be able to hear if he woke. “You have some nerve showing up here,” Sam said in a low, deadly voice.
“I just came to apologize,” the man replied, holding up his hands to show his surrender.
“It’s not you who should be apologizing Jared.”
“I know. I just-I feel so bad about what Jensen said so I came to say I’m sorry. And I know I have no right to ask this, but I’d really like to be a part of the baby’s life.”
“So you believe us?”
“Yes, I do. I don’t think you came for money either.”
“No, we didn’t. We’re actually pretty well off thanks to Dean’s inventions.”
“Oh yeah? Mind if I ask what?”
“An infrared thermal scanner, an improved, more efficient EMF, rock salt bullets, silver nitrate bullets, holy water bullets, a specialized, lightweight Kevlar to prevent hunters from getting clawed so bad…he’s also recently started to help companies with internet security.”
“All that sounds amazing, but the internet thing seems kind of out of place.”
“I know. Remember when I said that we killed the demon? Well, it put up a hell of a fight before it finally died. Broke Dean’s arm, his knee, a whole bunch of ribs and gave him a pretty severe concussion. Dean had to have pins put in his knee and his arm. He can’t hunt anymore, so he does the online stuff to keep busy. Plus he figures if he can ensure people’s information stays safe, he’s still helping people.”
“Wow. So what are you guys going to do now?”
“The past few months we’ve been trying to decide where to settle down. When we finally pick a place, Dean’s gonna keep doing what he’s been doing and I’ll probably open an office.”
“Law?”
“Therapy. I have a doctorate in psychology. I’ve always been very tuned into emotions and I wanted to find a way to help people, outside of killing monsters. This way I can, and I can also help those who’ve been traumatized by supernatural events.”
“That’s incredible. Have any words of wisdom I can use on my boyfriend?”
“Look, I get that he’s freaked. I was too at first. But then I realized that it didn’t matter because Dean’s still the same man I love. And no matter how much I wish his baby was mine, it’s not. Nothing can change that, so all I can do is be here for him and love him. And even though it’s not mine, I will love this baby no matter what.”
“If I were you, I’d probably feel the same. But Jen-”
“He’s not the only one who’s scared. Dean is terrified about all of this. He didn’t even want to come. I was the one who dragged him out here. I was the one who convinced him that Jensen needed to know. I just didn’t count on what an asshole he’d be. Listen, I should probably get back inside. As for you-I appreciate you coming here. I would have no problem with you being in the baby’s life, but it’s not my decision.”
“No matter how atrociously he behaved, I still love Jensen. I just want to be able to get to know his child.”
“I’ll talk to Dean, but I’m not guaranteeing anything.”
“Thank you Sam.” As Jared watched the other man walk away, he was filled with the belief that everything would work out alright in the end.
A/N: borrowed the silver nitrate bullets from Underworld. The holy water bullets I figured would work the same way as those silver ones.
