Hmmm I can't quite help you here (though thinking with you) as I don't understand it either. What if you took all those themed layers out of the layer tree under component. Created a new themed layer and posted the code in there? Have you tried that? I don't know if there is a limit of layers you can have with one style.

Well you can only have one active, right? At least that's what I thought. I'm definitely worried about deleting all the layers because if I can't rebuild one, then chances are I won't have a layout at all. *sobs* I could delete all but the active layer I suppose, but it seems like I tried that back in January and it didn't seem to matter.

*sigh*

I think in the end I'm going to be bald. :P

I think you need someone with programmer knowledge for this or someone who is very good with LJ coding. *sigh* I just don't see here where it goes wrong!

Yes I agree. Mila said something about HTML changes while I was gone and that might be the problem, but then I don't understand why it is working now. It's mind boggling.

Anyway I do understand that you're unable to help, but I do thank you for listening to me go on and on about it. It's just nice to have someone who cares. :)

I had an opal layer at the time that gave me a lot of problems when LJ decided to push code. I changed styles all together and started building up from scratch. :-/ Lay-outs can be stressful!

Your layout is awesome. Smooth sailing? And, your locked friends page...wow. I've never gotten the hang of that. Beautiful.

How sweet! Yes smooth sailing and using it to the max (hehe) it is my favorite LJ style.

Is that what that is? I was wondering what style yours was! Originally you and Maria are the ones who made me switch to Components. I too used Opal to begin with, but it was too limited in what I wanted to do.

Mila is absolutely adorable! She's very special just like you are. ♥

I used to be a component-devotee because I thought that it was the ultimate style. Now that I have discovered what you can do with Smooth Sailing I prefer to use it because you don't have to put every flippin detail in the CSS to change it. A lot can be changed through the wizard. Component is still a hot style, but Smooth Sailing is more straight forward.

Yep you sure know how to pick your friends :)

Yeah, smooth sailing = accessibility and ease. It really is a comfortable style. I may attempt it someday.

As far as Component goes, I agree that CSS plays a big part in appearance. The debate about any style, it seems, is that hard coding and/or using the wizard as oppossed to variables is not cool and limits your ability to personalize every theme layer within that style. *shrugs* Either way, it's all good and an accomplishment for anyone who builds a theme layer with or without the wizard. :)

Huh? :D

Yes, she once said it beautifully and I've never forgotten it, "I just can't keep my fingers off of my layout." She's always adding something amazing and is incredibly creative. :D
