First off, thank you so much to Mike, Lina, Mila and Monique. Also those final three need special thank yous for having to put up with my little tantrum yesterday! :P
This is graphics intense, but they're fast loading.
Okay here's the problem I'm having.
There are two things that I'll be talking about here and I've made screen shots of each.
This is my Layer Tree and is what I see when I go to
Your Layers.
This is what I call the Advanced Layer Editor and is what I get when I click the Edit button next to the Layer I wish to edit in my Layer Tree.
The layer which is active right now, is
5159888 and is viewable in my Layer Tree above.
Now here's the weird thing. The layer is working, right? I mean we can see that it is because my layout is here. I'm seeing all my pretty stuff right here before my eyes. There is no doubt about it; the layer works.
If I click on the Edit button to edit a layer in my Layer Tree, it takes me to the Advanced Layer Editor as I said before. Now let's say that I change one thing. One tiny little thing.
Let's say that I just change this:set page_friends_items = 50;
To this:set page_friends_items = 25;
But then I get this:
My question is why. If the layer is working, then what is the problem?
Naturally I thought that it was my browser. I mean, that seems like a browser issue, but no... it isn't. I know this because I did try and start from scratch. I began building another layer. If you look back at my layer tree, you'll see the one I've titled "Compiling" and is
5974321. That one is a layer which I was indeed able to load yesterday.
So it is not my browser AND it is not my code. The only other explanation that I can think of is that it's the Advanced Layer Editor. If the layer is working and I can't even change a tiny thing such as the sample above, then something is wrong.
Now about the "compiling" layer. Everything went fine until I got to:function page_layout(Page p) {
The whole code to this began to make it hang, and that's where I'm at right now. Of course this doesn't seem to make much sense because we know the code is working. It's like a vicious cycle.
Now
kunzite1 kindly, and VERY generously, rebuilt my layer and
it's located here. The problem that I have with it, is that for some reason I'm getting a bunch of unreadable characters when I open the file. I decided to just give it a go and see if I could load it anyway. I created a new theme layer and copied/pasted his code in there. It didn't seem to have any of those unreadable characters and it looked lovely, however I got an error message. If you look at my layer tree, you can see that 5974325 is still blank.
A thought just struck me about that... I wonder if it's a different layer than a theme layer? Hmmm. Aha! It is! It's a User Layer. I just this second tried it and now
this is my updated layer tree.
Okay so if this is so, then what is my next step? I've only worked with Theme Layers.
I know one thing for sure, this has been one helluva learning experience for me! My eyes! Lord have mercy my eyes! I have looked at codes until my eyes have hurt.
Oh and Mila, got your sweet email. You are SUCH a darling! I've looked at everything you've sent me, except for the code and I'll be looking at it today. Do you think it's the HTML changes that are the problem? What I can't understand then is why it's working now. This whole thing is just throwing me for a loop and I don't know what step to take next.
Again many thanks to whomever is listening. ♥
