Today I was looking for a store that I couldn't quite remember the location of. While searching for it I passed by several good coffeeshops, which had been thriving in Tucson for upwards of ten years, and found out that they had closed their doors. One of them had a sign out front which read: "We are the 64th restaurant in Tucson to go out of business in the last six months." I eventually found the store that I was looking for; it had gone out of business as well, as had some ten or fifteen others on 4th ave, which is typically Tucson's busy trendy shopping street. Holy crap! 64 restaurants and oodles of businesses are gone. Fuck you economy.
The Arizona state legislature voted to cut half of the budget for public Arizona schools. That equates to millions and millions of dollars lost from every public school, elementary to university. The University of Arizona has announced that it will cope with this 50 million dollar cut by drastically increasing tuition, cutting upwards of 600 staff members, discontinuing any campus landscaping, and merging a number of specialized colleges into one big, shitty college with big shitty class sizes. They will call it "The college of Arts, Sciences, and Letters," which makes no sense at all and just seems dumb. Fine arts and humanities, my majors, are two of the ones to be lumped into the shit college. This seems like a good time to quit. So I'm quitting.
Cole and I were walking out of a store the other day when a beam fell from the ceiling and landed on the man in front of us. We didn't stick around to see what happened to him. He probably slowly died of internal bleeding.
