This weekend, I took my mother shopping because she wanted to buy an Easter dress. As we wandered through the mall, passing store after store, she turned to me and asked, "Where the hell did all of these maternity stores come from?"

I know a few of y'all have commented before on how much current lady-fashion looks like maternity clothing. (I'm seeing a lot of crap this spring that looks like stuff my mum and aunts might've worn in the 60s when they were expecting, in fact.)

Anyone have any theories on why, though? I'm wondering if it has to do with the uber-glamorization, thanks to Hollywood, of the Baby Bump as the must have accessory.

Ideas? Thoughts?
