Fun & Family

So yesterday, I went out with Kara and her kids for the day. She came and picked me up a little later than expected because she was running a little behind. We hit up the Starbucks drive-thru before hitting the road and heading towards Merriville. We had planned on getting lunch at Cracker Barrel but the wait was going to be about 35 minutes so we left and headed on, ending up at Bennigan's like we had one time before when Cracker Barrel had too long of a wait for us to deal with.

After a delicious lunch, we headed out and checked out the Candy Factory first and Kara got some stuff for the kids while we browsed. I saw a couple items that were rather tempting but I held off and didn't get anything.

After leaving the candy factory, we headed onto the mall. At the mall, it took a bit to find a parking spot. Once we did, Kara and I agreed to meet up at the spot where they rent the kiddie crusiers because she needed to take Luke to the bathroom first. So I grabbed Linda and we made for a run for the entrance since it was raining. Once we were in, we headed straight for the kiddie crusier rental and after a short wait, got one. Then we headed to find Kara and Luke. Once we found them, we started browsing. We went into Build-A-Bear really quick so I could look around because I was thinking about a couple things but I couldn't make up my mind and it was also rather crazy in there so I decided that I would just pop in there another time. We went into the Disney store next and looked around. While I was looking, my eyes happened to land on an awesome Christmas ornament that I wanted for our tree this year. I am always on the look out for new ornaments, especially ones that are Tinkerbell and such. I am still kicking myself for not buying one one year when I saw it because the next time I went to get it, they were completely out of them. While we were in there, we were both talked into applying for the Disney Visa card because of the offer of a free $10 gift card. Kara used hers to get shirts from the clearance rack for the kids and I used mine to get the ornament that I had my eye on and I can't wait to hang it on the tree this year.

After finishing at the Disney store, we did a lot more browsing. One of the last stores we stopped in was the new addition to the mall, which is a Borders. While I still sometimes prefer Barnes & Noble to Borders, having that right there was rather convient. We went in and I browsed, heading to the Romance section to check and see what they had, with a specific book in mind. I had to use one of the computers they provide for customer use in order to find the book because while I knew the title, I had no clue who wrote it. Once I found out who it was by, I went looking once more and found it easily. I did a little more looking before I finally checked out. The guy who checked me out was kinda cute but sadly a hair too young for me.

After finishing at Borders, we headed back upstairs and stopped over at Mrs. Fields where Kara and I both got a sugar fix in the form of cookie sandwichs. Hers was with chocolate chip & m&m cookies and mine was with white chocolate macademia nut ones. We also hit up Gloria Jean's for a second coffee fix before finding us a table to sit at to eat our cookies and drink our coffee.

Once we were done, we went and returned the kiddie crusier and then headed for home. On the way home, we had to make a stop because Linda declared she had to use the restroom really bad. We stopped at the nearest exit and ended up at the gas station that a former co-worker of ours now works at currently. We visited with her for a little bit before continuing on our way home.

When I got home, my parents were home, having gotten back from their trip several hours earlier. It was great to see them and they happened to surprise me as they had a few things for me. I was not too surprised since they tend to bring me a couple small things back from any trip they take, that was until I saw all that they had for me. They had several NASCAR & Kasey things for me as well as a couple random items. There were two new Keychains for me as well as a mini-Kasey stand-up and a small, sign that reads authorized personnel only, Kahne Garage Area. There were also a couple random but awesome things in there as well, which consisted of a t-shirt that says Redneck Woman on it and two shot glasses, one a normal sized one that has a confederate flag on it and says Redneck and the other a huge one that is called the redneck's shot glass on one side and on the other side has 4 measurements and what that is considered to be. It is awesome. :)

Other than that, there hasn't been a lot going on in my life lately. I've been working on my NaNo piece and am closing in on 20,000 words but that is really about it. I don't have much else to say at the moment so I guess I will close this entry here but I promise to write again soon.

shopping, kara
