Reith Lectures

I found what I heard of the first Reith Lectures 2007 most interesting.
I plan to listen to the full thing later.

In other news I was rescued from another dead mouse this morning and am ashamed to admit that I acted far less heroically this time. In my defence the corpse was still in tact so could potentially have reanimated more easily than the previous decimated encumbant. Also, it was quite a large mouse.

The universe punished me for my cowardice by littering my journey to work with hoards of tourists who EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE BUYING THE SAME TICKET AS EACH OTHER insisted on discussing each step of the purchase procedure in minute detail for every ticket purchased, the full process needing at least three cancellations and start agains for each ticket. Luckily they stood quite far away from me on the platform so it was quite easy to resist the urge to push them in front of the train once it arrived.

I got on to a carriage crowded with children and sat at the back. It took me quite some time to notice that I wasn't heading for a nervous breakdown because of the noise of the little varmints, then I realised that they were all chatting away ten to the dozen, only it was in sign language - it was an amazing thing to see. This cheered me up considerably and the day has actually been quite good since then.
