This situation UPSETS me beyond belief.
Read:: Hurricane Victims Beg Locals For Dogs' Return

Here is my synopsis::

The people who really stick out in my mind are those two children and the miserable look in their eyes because they have encountered three traumas within this past year- losing both their parents, going through a devastating hurricane, and losing both their dogs because of someone's selfish demeanor. I cannot believe that a lawyer who is supposed to be respected within her community is reacting in this way- because she is losing a great deal of respect from so many people who are angered by this situation. The dogs had a bond with one another and were comforting the children after they had been through such a difficult situation. As for the condition of the dogs, they had been living in a "shelter", and who knows- they maybe weren't handled properly there. My 5-year old dog came to me three years ago malnournished- and he hadn't been handled properly by the foster owner who took him in. He was five pounds underweight. His actual owner before that (who had passed away and brought him there) did not do this to him- that was rather what happened in between living there and in my residence. So Pam Bondi as well as the others who are handling Nila should not be jumping to conclusions that the Coutures abused their animals. It is also extremely cruel that these people do not realize that two children are grieving here, and they could be devastated over this injustice for the rest of their lives.

EDIT:
- I found a photo of the lawyer with the dog. I noticed how one hand was tensed the other other wasn't.
- Again, here is a photo of the very sad family whose house was eradicated through Hurricane Katrina. The kids are 4 and 7 years old.

SOLUTION:
Go to the veterinarian, get paperwork or some other type of proof, if possible, and build a real case. How much care did those dogs receive? How well were they taken care of? Would the veterinarian testify for those people? The veterinarian may not want to get involved, but still, it would be wise to seek him or her out.
