It's Tax Day!
Hubby and I are exhausted, but we finally managed to whittle our tax liability down from about $2,800 to under $100. We went through a mountain of receipts and paperwork, calculated mileage, combed through every expense to maximize our deductions. I am so relieved by not having to pay in a huge amount, I feel like I've won the lottery!
Of course, last night my deadbeat father-in-law (who is more aptly described as my hubby's sperm donor) tried to hit us up for $1,500...and wanted to know if he could "count on" the occasional $250 that my hubby has given him when he takes him grocery shopping and stuff. Hubby said no, and I think it really surprised his dad. FIL seems to think that because we have a nice house that we're wealthy, but I haven't worked for 2-1/2 years and we dip into our savings to cover our expenses most every month. But even so, we wouldn't mind helping him out except that he's such a jerk. Grrr.
Going to bed, now to have happy dreams of not giving the government any more money. Yay!
