This could be bad...
Okay, I'm trying not to panic because I have yet to do an exhaustive search of my house, but at the moment I seem to have lost the flash drive on which I backed up my geocities website before they closed down. The scary part about this is that I'm pretty sure I had it a couple of weeks ago when I was looking for a flash drive to use for my little freelance spreadsheet project. I am really hoping that one of the kids didn't pick it up thinking it was theirs. *frets a bit*
This week my kids have been on spring break. My son went to the Wisconsin Dells with a friend, leaving my daughter and me home together all day every day. This has been bad. It's not that we don't get along - sometimes we do. It's just that we've become experts at pushing each other's buttons. I find myself longing for Hubby to get home at night just so that he can mediate. It is going to be a long summer if I don't find some work soon. Or something else to keep me out of the house.
I'm completely immersed in home improvement mode, despite the fact that our basement is "finished". (That is, we're still sorting through junk to get rid of, etc.) I'm now looking at the living room/dining room areas that are appallingly off-white and thinking how I could quickly repaint the walls. Of course, after painting I'd want to re-carpet, and as long as we're doing those rooms, we should do the stairs and the upstairs hallway... So, I'm trying to hold myself back, but it's difficult. I'm definitely going to be painting the front of my house this summer. The two sides and back have steel siding that's fairly new, but the front facade is wood and brick. We're never painted the front since we moved here 12-1/2 years ago, and I doubt the previous owners ever did. There isn't that much paintable area, but it does require me getting up on a fairly steep roof to reach the second story up to the eaves. Yeah, I'll be doing a lot of research before I tackle that project. Right now, I'm trying to decide what colors to use. It's currently gray, but I found some evidence that it might have been a bluish gray originally before the sun faded it.
I actually read a fic today for the first time in several months. It was shocolate's A Higher Love and it was fabulous. Gorgeous art by napchic too. But of course, you all know this because you didn't wait for a month and a half to read the H/R Big Bang fics, did you? There are still a lot left to read, but I'm vowing to get to all of them.
Off to pick up the daughter from church. Should be fun, right?
