So I said "but dude, whenever you excite a system that has nonlinear coupling, you excite it in all of its vibrational modes, not just the axis of excitation", and then I realized that they had no clue of what I was talking about.

Monster day today. This is the first I've had a chance to breathe for a minute before delving back into the fray.
