oye...
It has been just one of those days. Spent all day doing laundry, straightening the house, catching up on computer stuff and attempting to find housing in WA. You know we originally found a bunch of apartments and such in Federal (they have the 3rd best school district in the state) but now everyone we know is trying to convince us not to go federal way b/c the drive will be too long for Jim. So then we started looking in Puyallup (2nd best schools in the state) and we had a hard time finding anything in the rental arena. So we tried home buying again, but still nothing that just screams "BUY ME."
I refuse to get locked into a house or an area that I may not like so I am fairly firm on renting for now... and at this point. That way we can get to know the area, find the best schools, and get me settled into my career so that we can start saving for a house. I honestly don't care, at this point, if we save any money out of our BAH for a house as long as it will be hassle free living!
I don't want to have to do yard work, maintenance, or anything for the next year. The police academy in WA is 4 months long (and I may have to wait 2-3 months for the next testing cycle just to get in) and since we are looking to live a bit far from the academy then Jim will be doing the geographically-single career dad thing for 4 months. Then he deploys for a year and I have to do the geographically-single career mom thing for a year.
I am not ruling out finding the right place (as far as buying goes) but reality has just sunk in too far at this point... I am just frustrated beyond belief. Our friend Mark is being an absolute doll... he and his wife have bent over backwards helping us on their end! *Hugs* They are frustrated with on-post living at this point and are in a mad rush to find their own place right now. They never forget us when they are on a house hunt (thanks guys) and I love them for that. Perhaps their realtor will find something that just screams out to us... who knows.
I just want to get working. Right now the King County Sherriff’s department is looking VERY appealing to me! So many options for advancement, they have a FEMALE Sherriff (chief) and FEMALE recruiter right now (how cool is that?!), the pay is great for the area, the benefits freaking rock, and they have a school pay differential (you get paid extra for your degrees--- ie it pays to be a nerd! LOL!), and the retirement plan is not so shabby. I could see myself getting a good start there... shoot if I landed myself a spot on one of the specialty teams I might be there awhile! LOL!

Guess I had better hit the sack b/c I have a lot of training to do in the new six weeks. It is well time to get my arse back to the gym for some serious fitness training! OYE, I am in trouble... my pudgy butt has not worked out in a while since school got so crazy!
BTW- What do you think of the new "look of my journal" and my new personalized smilies thingy I did?! Well I just built the file from "free" smilies, but it took me three dang days to do it, so I am taking some claim for it.... BAH!
