Book Review: When the Wind Stops
Author- Charlotte Zolotow & Illustrated by Stefano Vitale
Copyright 1995 HarperCollins Publishers
ISBN- 0064434729
Thanks to Vitale, this book is a beautifully illustrated; each page looks as if it was burned into a piece of wood and hand painted to express each page of motherly prose. Zolotow manages to make it quite easy for parents to explain why nature does what it does, at a level that even the youngest child can accept. The story revolves around a young boy who enjoys the things nature has to offer. Upon bedtime he asks his mother questions like: "Where does the sun go when the day ends?", "Where does the wind go when it stops?", and "Where does the moon go when the day begins?" She explains that these things do not end but they move onto another place in the world to continue what they do best. In a complementary pagan theme, the mother explains that everything continues and never really ends. All in all, a very beautiful book for the pagan family!
This is from a column I used to write for a Pagan Publication in Michigan... ENJOY!
