First Grimoire//Rose Lalonde\\Video [Slytherin Common]

Nov 09, 2011 23:17

[She's in the Slytherin Common room as per usual with a book in her lap even more as per usual. Rose hasn't really found much time to devote to these devices, as she's been rather absorbed in being a real motherfucking wizard at a real motherfucking wizard school. The girl must have plowed through a good portion of the library already. However, now ( Read more... )

[ As if Hogwarts doesn't have enough floating candles, but he won't mention it. That she speaks as if he's some knight errant with a fabled - well, it might be, he doesn't have a clue what the hell it's called - grimoire for some Slytherin princess isn't lost on him, but he chalks it down to Girlish Ways. They have them, he really doesn't much care, and if it puts her in a better mood by amusing herself then all the better.

But he honestly just thinks she's pretty wordy. ]

Good evening. [ Offering the book to the short second-year, he absently directs his wand to a free leather sofa, the invisible object at his side landing with a rustle - she knows he's up to something, so there's no point pretending otherwise. Besides, it's giving him a cramp in his wrist from levitating the damned thing all the way from the Quidditch pitch while keeping it concealed. ] This is for you. It's third-year magic, hedging on fourth, but even if you've read a lot of similar works I'd bet there's one or two interesting nuggets in there. I checked a few others, but they offered up nothing of particular substance.

[With a most courteous smile on her face she takes the book gently from his grasp, no need to mark any remarks that my drawn the man's ire. Morally ambiguous people shrouded in mystique tend to make either powerful, priceless allies, or share the same grandeur as an enemy.]

How meticulous of you, I do hope my little errand did not prove too onerous. [And when she has it in both hands, she'll tuck it under her arm. Craning her neck towards the couch, she glances between the two before settling on Light.]

I suppose this parcel is the catalyst for my clearing of the room?

It is.

[ A nod is given to the remaining sofa, one arm-rest of which he takes for his own as he sinks down with a sigh. ]

You'll appreciate my not telling you exactly what it is, given all the trouble I went to by shrouding the thing in various charms. [ Chinning a hand, he offers a mild smile. ] I could hazard a wild guess that everyone will find out soon enough.

I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't let my room-mates know, though. One of them is particularly tactless.

Smuggling in wizardly contraband?

[Oh, now she's interested. Way more interested than any cautious thirteen year old girl should be. She rolls her hand toward him, sarcastic.]

You're certainly making an effort to refrain from resonating as ominous.

Or maybe I'm making the effort to appear insincere to satisfy your curiosity and go along with any preconceptions to do this as smoothly as possible, instead of trying to convince you of said sincerity which is, in actuality, very real all along but which you wouldn't have believed had I done so.

[ She's bright, so he tells it like it is. ]

Anyone would have been suspicious the second I switched the feed to private. Have you been humoured, Lalonde? Or am I really insincerely sincere?

[ A dismissive, airy wave of his hand. Gosh, aren't we all so sneaky on this sofa - nope, just tired. ]

We'll never know now that you've outed me. I'm clearly riddled with all these heinous secrets and ought to keep my mouth shut.

Your sincerity is of little concern, Light. The matter at hands is betwixt of what rather than why. This is a business proposition, is it not? I cleared the room, you're offering me substantial entertainment.
[Ah, she reads his fatigue and eyes him curiously for a moment as she formulates just how she's going to convince him to tell her what his little conspiracy is all about. Damned if she isn't going to. Yes, getting involved in shady business would probably not gain the "John Egbert Stamp of Approval" but that is a sacrifice she's just going to have to make.
But if she doesn't, she could be missing out on a golden opportunity to further herself to her goals.]

What is of mine concern however, is this seemingly dubious object you've so elegantly hexed into abscondence. If you find yourself not at liberty to reveal to me what it is, I could easily go to the staff and report something so utterly suspicious. However...

I'm certain someone with your panache and swagger would be more than capable of rather heavy-handed retaliation for such a brazen betrayal. Rather moot, if you ask me.

Or, on the other hand, I could cease my inquiries and wait liked a poised porcelain doll until the moment you make your "revelation."

Whether you reveal is to me or not won't substantiate any more negative an outcome than if you didn't.

How about you satiate my curiosity and stoke the flames of an unpredictable outcome with a grand indulgence instead?
