What: Macnair made a mistake and Lucius has been ignoring him, but now it's time that things be explained.
Lucius had arrived at the owlery twenty minutes before he was due to meet Walden Macnair there. He had letters to send off, important ones, and didn't want it questioned why he wasn't having Orion carry them. His eagle owl was too ostentatious. It was his and everyone knew it. The more innocuous owls that the school provided for muggleborns and the poor were far better to lessen suspicion. But he wasn't without something for his owl. Orion had been a loyal and good messenger since his purchase at the beginning of Lucius' schooling.
So he'd brought him treats. The most expensive owl treats he could find in Hogsmeade. The great multi-colored bird rested heavily on his arm as it took the treats from him, letting out pleased sounds and ruffling it's plumage.
“Yes,” he said to Orion, smiling, “You're swift and loyal. That is to rewarded, you see.”
His smile soured into a frown, the reason for his waiting in the owlery creeping back to him. Meeting Macnair, who had made such a grievous error. His hand clenched into a fist, and Orion shifted gloomily on his arm.
