So. I'm not watching Heroes again on TV until I get caught up with Season 2, which I missed.
I'm caught up with BSG, and looking forward to the new episodes in January. Ditto for Lost and the new Whedon series "Dollhouse".
I'm also wishing that Charlie Jade would get a 2nd season, but that's not going to happen.
What'z it I'm following right now? Well... nothing hugely popular (except for maybe Fringe) just...
1.) True Blood --
I've never really watched HBO shows (nothing they've produced has ever caught my eye, not strange enough for me). I love long intruiging story arcs with mystery and colourful characters. This series has got both. The characters are all over the map -- A hippy vegan chick who likes getting high on vampire blood, a dumb-ass but loveable muscled Moose (a la Archie comics) who always is in the wrong place at the wrong time, a gentlemanly vampire from Civil War days who has fallen for a young mortal that can read people's thoughts (who's a waitress at the local bar). Yup bit of 'dis, bit o' dat. Lots of cheap laughs, and tense moments.
2.) The Amazing Race 13 --
This is the 12 of the 13 produced I'm watching, and I still don't get tired of watching a bunch of Americans trying to dash about from place to place in a hectic state that brings both the best and worst sides to bare -- ignorances, prejudices, cocky attitudes, sympathies, occasional team work, and a immersion in various cultures and exotic places (sometimes quite hesitantly). Still a great show in my book. Hey last episode they were in Kasakstan! Home of Borat... if he actually existed...
3.) Fringe --
JJ Abrams has hit pay dirt again! There is really nothing this guy has done I haven't liked (including MI:3 and Cloverfield). Starting with my love of the show Alias, and every my frustrating and up and down affair with Lost, I've liked every minute of it... even if I turn bitter now and again. This show has similar appeals as the X-Files, but in my mind a better overall backstory arc that keeps you going from episode to episode, playing a small part each time, slowly putting together a very intricated and large puzzle each time. Again strong characterization makes this show succeed. Especially the crazy ol' Doc. He's priceless -- can't get enough of his one liners that are socially completely out of place with the situations the crew faces each week.
4.) Sanctuary -- Dunno if I should stick with this one or not. Stories seem very superficial and derivative, characters are okay, but I really like the "style" of the show. Kinda like my mixed feeling of Jericho... which I eventually stopped watching. I quite liked the last episode with these cute little furry creatures that release pheremones that err... started effecting everyone in strange ways. Very corny juvenille humour that kinda tweeked my funny bone. We'll see...
