Reboot, once more, with feeling (and 'bout those civic elections eh?)

Nov 16, 2008 16:21

Well, it has been years... YEARS since I properly updated my blog.  I obviously never read "The Proper Care and Feeding of Blogs".  If this blogspace were an appendage it would have withered away and fallen off ages ago.

Phew.  Now, since of late my life has slowed a little and become a little less crazy I thought I'd start posting a bit again.  Let's see where this takes us.  Hopefully somewhere.  Constructive?

First of all I'm currently TOCing -- doing my rounds teaching at various schools through out Maple Ridge, enjoying my time in science labs, english classes, and cooking rooms.  This after having my own class on a temp contract last year.  I'll get back to that again, but for now I'm enjoying the freedoms that TOCing allows.

Yesterday was Nov. 14th.  I voted.  Most the of candidates I like didn't get in, those with eloquence of vision (beyond the here and know -- in to the future) and an eye for how to achieve a balanced community (that isn't in the back pocket of the development community whose influence is smotheringly overwhelming with Maple Ridge being something like 98% residential commuter-land tax base).

Instead the public (those that actually voted -- another dismal turn out this year with less than 50% coming to the polls) chose another three years of same-old, same old people and ideas.  Stale as yesteryear's bread.  We won't be getting any new innovative ideas at City Hall that I can see any time soon.

Ah well.  My first post in AGES and it's a rant.  Who coulda guessed.
