1. Who is your character's PB?
For the sake of this prompt, I'm going to discuss my most active characters:
Tommy Karras = Criss Angel
Anne Forsythe = Holly Madison
Claude/Kyle Howard = Milo Ventimiglia
Cain Callahan = Matthew Fox
Henrietta "Hank" Callahan = Emily Browning
2. Which came first, the character or the PB?
Tommy: Character, definitely.
Anne: The PB pretty much came first, but followed so closely by her character that it's kinda hard to say.
Claude/Kyle: PB came first.
Cain: They really came at the same time.
Hank: The character.
3. Why did you choose this particular PB?
Tommy: I didn't have a clearly defined idea for the character at first, but I knew that I wanted pics of my character that could clearly define him as a magician. Criss Angel is easy to find pics for, he presents a very clear sort of character, and he's hot. :P He's also Greek, and Tommy is both Greek and has power that is Greek in origin.
Anne: To be honest, I saw her on DANCING WITH THE STARS and I wanted to use her. :P My best friend also had a character she developed with a PB from that show, so we made them sisters. Easy.
Claude/Kyle: These two are based on a very old character I had and used Milo for. Not only did I need a PB I could use as a medical man, but Milo can do both sweet boy next door and a darker character. Claude and Kyle are literally two sides of one being, so that duality was useful.
Cain: I had created a man that was very aggressive, very male, and very contradictory. He was deeply conflicted, but very accepting of his conflict. He was constantly angry but loved fiercely and capable of great gentleness, bitter and jaded but deeply spiritual. Matthew Fox was perfect to fill the role.
Hank: To be honest, Emily Browning was referred to me by a friend. She'd used her for a char that had Foxy as a dad, and she works so perfectly.
4. How close is the PB to your character? What are the differences, if any?
All of my PB's really match their characters, pretty much. Some, like Cain and Tommy, have physical scars and marks the PBs don't, but I either never show them or I manip pictures as needed. In cases like Hank, I've actually had the character change her appearance to match her PB (EB has a pierced navel and nose. Hank talked her dad into both.).
5. Have you modified the PB in any way to be more like your character?
I have. Tommy's eyes turn red when his Titan half manifests, and in an AU he's a vampire so I've done fangs on him. Same for Cain, I mutilated him for an AU where he lived a much different life.
6. Have you ever changed your character's PB / would you ever? Why, or why not?
Sort of. She's not listed, but I did recast a character of mine and created a separate journal because her other PB belonged to another muse who didn't like it. The mun was fine, it was the muse who hated it, just to be clear. ;p I still play both, but I focus more on the recast version of the muse.
7. Where did you find icons of your PB, or did you make them yourself?
Both. Less exposed PB's, like Criss Angel and Holly Madison, I make most of their icons. Both muses have certain looks and personalities, too, so I try to make icons that show that side. Criss Angel's a consummate performer, it's hard to find icons of him being shy. ;p
8. Is it important to have an appropriate PB for your character? Why or why not?
It really is, because if my muse doesn't feel comfortable in the skin I give them? They won't give me anything to work with.
9. Have you ever been favorably/unfavorably predisposed towards a character because you liked or didn't like the PB choice?
Yes. Two prime examples? Baileigh Solis and Sal Vieri. Baileigh Solis (
deep_red_bells ) is Morena Baccarin, and I think she's both unique and gorgeous. Sal Vieri (
we_standalone ) is Sully Erna, and my love for him knows no bounds. Seriously. :P
10. Have you ever had a character who was represented by text icons / no icon only because they were too difficult to find a PB for?
To be honest, no! I really won't play a character unless I CAN find them a PB, for the sole reason that they have no voice until they have a body. Otherwise it's just an idea that drives me crazy. When I match a face, that's when I stop having an idea and start hearing a real voice in my mind.
