This weekend has been amazing. I needed this.
My company is awesome and gave us a floater day on Friday so we had a 4-day weekend. Friday morning we went to Home Depot and picked up a metric ass-ton of mulch, some tulip and iris bulbs, and other random implements of torture yard work. We made a few beds in some of the open spaces in our yard, cleaned up the mud room (and sprayed a ton of spider killer in there), and I planted some bulbs. Maybe I'll post pictures later. It was hard work but we got the yard mostly cleaned up and ready for the spring. I've figured out a spot where I think I can plant some veggies next year, so I'm excited about that.
Yesterday we went down to Woodbridge for a BBQ at Erin's house. It was awesome. Just awesome. It was so nice to relax and just enjoy a day with my friends. It just felt so normal after a month of... abnormality.
Today the weather is absolutely gorgeous. Kyle and I went for a walk around Park Lake. There are so many nice things in our town that we just haven't seen yet. We don't see much of the town other than the stretch between our house and Rte 80 (which is about a mile). The park is just gorgeous and there's a playground and a beach and all kind of things. Apparently there's a summer concert series that goes on there that we'll have to look in to for next year.
Today I have the option of doing absolutely nothing, and tomorrow I also have the option of doing absolutely nothing. It's glorious. I will probably end up cleaning and doing other things to get ready for the week, but at least it will be at my own pace and not OMG THIS MUST BE DONE NOW. I've already ironed and gone grocery shopping for the week, which is awesome because it's been such a long time since I've gotten that done BEFORE the work week started.
public,
weekend
