"On peut être bougre et citoyen!"

Seven pamphlets fighting for the rights of "gays and lesbians" in... 1790-1791? Uh-huh. The French Revolution is *everything*.

Yes, that's what I'm doing instead of working on my last dissertation.

OH. THE JOYS OF SLASH IN THE 18TH CENTURY. XD )

Okay.......... well.......... you'll suffer.

I can't believe I'll type that...

La rosée du matin
Comme une brise d'été
Vient effleurer
Notre vie sans broncher

Ainsi découverte
Elle nous est offerte
Tel un cadeau divin
La rosée du matin

Après l'obscurité
Les ombres enfin cachées
Survient une lueur
Apportant le bonheur

De ce contraste
Comme laissant ses traces
Une douce fraîcheur
Éveille nos coeurs

Son seul souvenir laissé
Demeure l'espoir de retrouver
À chaque matin
La rosée du matin

Forgive me: LAHSDFOIASYDFNKALSDHFOAISDFAKJCJVOIAUE!!%"/%?!

*slaps self. twice. real hard. for real*

Okay, I feel better now. I think. I was taken with convulsions at every two lines I typed.

...tell me frankly; it's far worse than Maxime at the Rosati, right? It's completely Rousseau-esquely INSANE -- and I don't even know how I could write Rousseau-esque crap. Don't attempt *any* answer.

P.S. I was 14 years old. That's even worse. Worse than that is I was certainly proud of it back then... but I do thank Reason I didn't put random exclamation marks... that would have been so much worse. I still can't believe I wrote "cadeau divin" though -- WTF. O___O

*sporfle* It's rather amusing, actually; but yes, it's unfortunately worse than Maxime's, since, at least he knew he was writing crappy poetry.

My fourteen year-old self committed suicide with shame, actually.

...fortunately, or I'd have had to kill her myself. :D

That's fortunate; it would be bad if you killed your former self.....even if, technically, you did. Eek. Paradox.

...sorry. It's been a long time, you know. Must be all these hours I read about Saint-Just and typed about him (and only him). ;_;

...you might want to broaden your study just a bit, before you drive yourself crazy. Just an idea.

...that means I might have to take his pretty portrait away from next to my computer too, right?

That might help as well, yes.

But... he's so pretty with his eyes staring at me! And his cute little smile! And... and!... you know. *pouts*

Yes, but consider your sanity!

...but... SAINT-JUST! ;______________;

...why is he bad for my sanity already?

No reason except that studying him exclusively or obsessively, as is the case with anything, is not good.

...I could compensate with some Neoclassical Art reading? Or reading about the Jacobins during the post-Thermidor era? Are there studies about them anyway? I think I might have to specialise on this... no matter how depressing it is.

Yes, that might help. And I don't know whether there are studies specifically of post-Thermidor Jacobins, but I have an excellent book on the Thermidorian reaction in general.
