The Weekend Began On Wednesday...

Oct 30, 2006 10:32

...but not in the good way. I wish it was one of those weekends that starts in the middle of the week and you can just laze around. Nope, I was busy with Regionals.

Wednesday during the day was okay. I finally went back to class after being sick. Work was work. It was actually after that when it got interesting. In the afternoon, I got an e-mail from Russell saying that there was an emergency Regionals meeting that night at 2100. My thoughts: crappity! Didn't really want to go cause we had Stonewall movie night. Which meant watching gay movies (lesbian in this case) with a bunch of homos. It was fun. We had the meeting and that lasted until about midnight. Actually, it went longer, but I left at midnight to go finish a project and then get to bed.

Thursday I woke up in time to finish typing a registration form and then go to German where I had to give a presentation over Gesellshaftkritik. *snore* I did it and then he let us out early for once because he had a meeting at noon. So I had an opportunity to run around like a chicken with my head cut off to get signup sheets printed and run by the dorm to put in my contacts and fun stuff like that. Criminal Law was typical. Dr. Moore was impressed with people who scored well on a quiz. I was gone when we took it, so...but I would have done well. That class is so easy it makes me want to cry. But I got out early, so I go to go help with Regionals early.

Went up to the apartment in the hotel that we were using and it was utter chaos. I jumped right in. I stuffed bags with information for about 45 minutes and then we had to go downstairs and start registering people at 1400. Registration was...exciting. We were all stressed. But it went pretty well. Not all of the chapters showed up before we had to leave, so we had late registration upstairs in the apartment. Then there was the opening social at Lizard's. It wasn't bad, but I was more interested in this one girl downstairs then the party happening upstairs.

Went back to the hotel room and Russell was drunk as hell. Once everyone was settled, I left to go home to go to sleep. That was when I did a stupid thing and check my Flist for any last interesting posts and saw the thing about yuletide. See a previous post for the rant about that. So, didn't get to bed till about 0300.

Friday dawned bright and early. I wanted to shoot the sun. I was late to class, but Reed was teaching, so it was okay. Struggled not to fall asleep in Arabic and then went to work. Work wasn't bad. I goofed off for the last hour or so. Which brings me to my next rant. I really...*really* need to stop clicking on links for challenges. It gets me in trouble. This one I blame on geonncannon and ariestess and ralst. You're all in trouble! With everyone talking about NaNoWriMo, I decided to follow a link and see what the big deal was. That was a *big* mistake! I'm now signed up for that as well. *glares at everyone*

I left work at 1300, as usual, but didn't have POL so it was off to Regionals with me. I got back in time to sit in on Mr. Bozeman's presentation. It's a good presentation about the Valentine's Day Massacre that happened in Houston in 2003. A family was killed and Mr. Bozeman was shot. The presenation really put it into perspective what we're gonna be doing. I sat through that for the second time and then I went on the prison tour of the Walls Unit. I got to see where Texas executes people. It was fairly interesting, but I'm looking forward to going to the Pulunsky (sp?) Unit in November. That's where they house death row. It is extremely difficult to secure a tour and we managed. Expect a report from that.

After the tour, we had to get ready for the social at Shenasty's. Another one I was not impressed by and another one at which Russell and others got smashed. We came back to the hotel and Russell got a phone call saying that people were at IHOP. So we go to IHOP. Once there, Russell and John decide that they're not hungry. Jessica and Valerie are getting claustrophobic. Mireya had already gotten pissed and gone to another table and ordered. I was kinda hungry. So Russel, John, Jessica and Valerie left while Mireya and I stayed. Then Meesha started going on about respect and not believing the claustrophobia thing. For the record, Jessica paniced and puked on the way back, so it wasn't a lie.

I have also decided that I won't be going to IHOP for some time. I got a Boca burger. They gave me the jar of mustard. I went to shake the mustard, but the top was just placed on and was only sealed because it had dried. I shook, the cap went flying and I got mustard all over me. I was *not* happy. Denny's does better Boca burgers anyway, so, no more IHOP for me.

When we finally got back, it was bed time. I slept on the floor in the middle room. Got cold as hell over night and put my leg to sleep. It still tingles. Today. On Monday. Damn floors.

Saturday was the busiest day, but not as much for me. I got up to my alarm, but didn't stay up. Russell and Valerie went out to physical agility. We stayed in the room and screwed around. Mireya and John slept, Jessica tried to grade and I watched TV. When Russell and Valerie got back, they were kinda pissed. I told them to call me if they needed help, but they didn't. So I don't feel bad. I was just pissed at them for getting annoyed at me for not being a mind reader.

Once they got back from that, we had to get ready for the banquet. Russell was freaking out cause Aramark wasn't setting up by 1600 (the banquet was scheduled for 1900) so I had to walk down to the LSC, find a manager type person and ask what was up. She said they would be there at 1800 and be set up by 1830. After I relayed the message, I went back to my dorm and showered. And goofed off.

The banquet was fun. Mr. Bozeman spoke again. This time about what his brothers and sisters in law enforcement meant to him. It was an awesome speech. Makes me want to be done with college so I can start working. Alas, I still have years to go. We took pictures then went back to the room and got ready to go to the closing social at the Fairgrounds. There was more drama because not as many people showed (which is typical) and people couldn't find their way because of the construction on Highway 30. I only went in the can van to help pick people up. Yay, drunken CJ majors!

But before we did that, we had fun listening to the police scanner. For those who didn't read the previous entry...there was a shooting. And an infant left in a car. I want a scanner! It's sad when CJ majors manage to amuse themselves by listening to police scanners and getting revved up to go out there and do something. Yeah...Nick was hilarious when he wanted to do that.

Sunday morning we woke up and had the breakfast. The CJ Cafe actually makes some pretty badass eggs. After I was done, I sold raffle tickets for the blanket we were raffling. Then we had the Region II meeting. *snore* I actually did fall asleep at one point. Talk about boring as hell. Elections didn't go so well. It turned into Delta Chi(us) vs AEPhi(TSU). Unfortunately, AEPhi won. But we'll still be involved. Then awards were called out. We got Sweepstakes again, but that wasn't a surprise.

Once that was over, we had a few more pictures and then we had to get everything out of the hotel. I have a box of stuff in my backseat now that will eventually go in the office, but Nick really didn't want to have take it up the stairs. So it will sit there for awhile. Although it may get moved into the dorm over Thanksgiving break if it's still there.

I went home. I fell asleep. I woke up when Jennie got home. I watched Criminal Minds. I am now completely caught up with CM and looking toward finishing catching up with Atlantis. I have also filled 200 GB of my shiny new 300 GB external HD. Yeah...I'll be burning here for awhile.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. How was yours?

Right now, I'm working on separating IDEA forms. *snore* I also have three paper cuts that I've gotten just since this morning. *cries*

lae, life
