What I Did Today
PS - Sydney? Why are you so keen on playing the soundtrack to season 2 of Alias? Are you trying to tell me something? Look, as soon as I finish watching the five episodes of Heroes I have stored on Jeremy the TiVo (jeebus god, how did I get to five?!), I am planning on rewatching Alias from the beginning. Thank you for the hint, now shut up and play something else. Something with lyrics. Love, Alaina.
Okay. Regularly scheduled progamming, commence:
- Mass mailing: credit card bill, federal tax return (yay!), OK Go tickets to guy in Boston
- Couldn't locate Red Sox tickets on fridge ...
- Attempted to parallel park on Market Street, but some asshat didn't realize that because my reverse lights were on I was intending to parallel park into the space behind me, and rode my ass the entire way down Market and back up to Middle.
- Bull Moose, Middle Street: purchased U2's No Line on the Horizon and used Mickey Mouse Disney treasures collection.
- Casablanca Comics: purchased latest issue of Buffy: Season 8 and the Omnibus Volume 5, and had great conversation with Comic Book Guy about Dollhouse and something called The Middleman.
- Bull Moose, Scarborough: looked for Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume One, but could not locate.
- Either Bull Moose location: Could not locate a copy of the soundtrack to Once More, With Feeling for less than $14.95. Seriously? I am not paying that much for a soundtrack that I already own half of; Little Emily can ... y'know, I don't mean that in the least. My mindgrapes takes that thought back and immediately apologizes to Little Emily, while my hand slaps my face.
- Newbury Comics, South Portland: Found a Green Lantern shirt - that fits!
- Newbury Comics: Could not locate a Boris Badenov Mechanikov doll. Am very sad.
- Library: Picked up copy of The Reader and paid overdue fine from November. Only two dollars?! Best fine ever!
- Returned home. Found Red Sox tickets - how dare you hide in plain sight on the dining room table, Red Sox Tickets?! You know that table is the Black Hole of Twirling, Whirling Entropy!
- Reread Buffy: Omnibus Volume 1. May lend to Little Emily for her birthday; not sure yet.
- Listened to No Line on the Horizon.
I'm not sure how I feel about it. Yes, it's good, and yes, "Get on Your Boots" is still the weak spot, but I think my main problem with the CD is the track order. My favorite U2 tracks are the 'rocking' tracks: "Elevation," "Pride," "Sunday Bloody Sunday," "Desire," "Vertigo," and "Even Better Than the Real Thing." I do enjoy some of the introspective songs, but even those are heavier in terms of decksanddrumsandrockandroll: "Until the End of the World," "Electrical Storm," "Where the Streets Have No Name," "Love and Peace or Else," "City of Blinding Lights." But the first five tracks of No Line are very ... "With or Without You," and while I enjoy "With or Without You," I do not enjoy listening to "With or Without You" five times in a row. I ended up skipping to "Get On Your Boots" because while the lyrics are incomprehensible and the bridge fails miserably, at least it has some edge and bass to it.
- Could not watch The Middleman on ABC Family dot com. You lied to me, Comic Book Guy! How dare you?
- Gym: 25 minutes on bike, half an hour doing weights.
- Finished writing the lyrics to "She's Right," the song Flexo will be singing at the next Team Day Department Meeting Whatever.
What I Intend to do Tomorrow
- Drive up to Freeport and check my email, as I have a walk-through with the allocators tomorrow morning, and I haven't been at work since Saturday due to the Snowpocalypse on Monday (I can't take credit for that; I read the name somewhere on my flist, and I am borrowing it with credit - maybe from musesfool?), and I kinda want to be prepared since Pam is still on vacation.
- Watch holy jeebus god five hours of Heroes
- Drink a lot of jum and tonic to counter the effects of Claire the Fungdark.
- Finish reading The Firm, because come on, it's the fourth time I've read it! I know how it ends! Why is it taking so long?
Hey, Sydney? How did you know I wanted to listen to "Gimme Shelter" this evening at the gym? Weird...
