New President Meme
So.... Obama has been in office for [54] hours. [when the meme was first written]
In that time he has done a LOT.
I see a lot of self congratulatory, happy posts on LJ about what he has done so far.
What have you done?
The message of the Obama campaign is that we all have the power to change the world, (Yes we can!) but with that power comes great responsibility.
We have to pick up the part of the work that is ours and DO IT.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
What is your part of the work? What are YOU going to DO to support the Obama presidency?
Now is the time to walk your talk.
The man is in power. He is keeping his end of the bargain. What about you?
What are you going to do to support America?
What are you going to do to make this country, this world, a better place?
My Answer:
I do a lot to make a better place. But I think that for Obama I will take a new tack. I think that I will consider the "Audacity of Hope".
I'm quite cynical about much change. I'm going to try, for awhile, to keep up the hope. I'm going to choose to trust that things are going to get better. I'm going to encourage myself and others.
