So I stayed up until after 3am on Thursday finishing Protectors. Hands up who saw that coming? ;) No, but as I saw the end creeping nearer and nearer I just had to know what happened. Thanks for sharing. When I read The Eternal Tide I have to admit I wasn't overly impressed with KB's writing. It wasn't bad, but it didn't suck me in either. Idk, I have ff writers I prefer :D Plus this tells me what I need to know about the canon relationship :D

I can only agree. My reading experience is of course strongly coloured by my personal investment in J/C. However I enjoy a good story and in that regard Protectors is actually a step forward imo. The overall writing has improved and I find myself quite engaged and interested in the different story arcs and characters and am looking forward to more( Cambridge continues to be a revelation ( ... )

YES! Everything you said in your comment is exactly how I felt! The odd nonchalance, the way they seemed to backpedal somewhat - pretty much exactly what you said. ;)
