A day in the garden...

My mother and I are rid of "the boys" this weekend!  My father and brothers are on a boy scout Father's Day weekend canoe trip, so they left at 7:00 this morning.  The biggest blessing from this is that my brothers aren't around for a couple of days; they have been in that unmotivated mood that sets in right after finals, so they've been bouncing around playing video games the past several days.

Anyway, my mother and I spent the whole afternoon gardening.  My mom edged the sidewalk - we filled 6 of those lawn and leaf bags with grass, roots, and soil - and we planted the flowers my mom has been buying.  I have to say, this was probably the most gratifying gardening day I've ever had.  Usually I'm weeding or something similar - a frustrating job because of all the roots that must come out.  But today I actually got to plant flowers, and besides it being a simpler task, it was nice to stand back and see the product of it.  So yay.  : )

Unfortunately, due to running around on various errands and such yesterday and gardening today, I am still at 34 pages left in Queen of Glass.  *sigh*  SO CLOSE!!
