Now I can finally say I watched The Blue Planet. And enjoyed it.

Since the hols began for a short while, I decided to sit down and FINALLY watch the Ultraman movie I bought last year: Ultraman Cosmos 2: The Blue Planet. Ah, what an experience. Bombs, Ultraman Cosmos, CG, Ultraman Cosmos, monsters, Ultraman Cosmos, Ultraman Justice, Ultraman Cosmos, Ultraman Cosmos... :) (hint hint, NTV7, you promised us a series.)

It's nothing new to the fandom because it's been so blerdie long since the movie was in theaters, but the story starts off 2 years after the series' end, with Musashi working with the SRC space research center. Some monsters come up, Cosmos beats up the monsters, Musashi is confused, Musashi goes to Saipan to see his friend get wed, more monsters, more bombs, strange aliens, cool CGs and choreography, and best of all, Ultraman Cosmos in Eclipse Mode busting tail and taking no prisoners. Unfortunately, Zandoras decides to cheat and seals Cosmos in this black cling-wrappy barrier before blasting the crap out of him. Thankfully Justice beams down to save the day, and believe me, the two make a pretty good combo. Some of the bests and worsts come out here...

Best Acting: Saitou Mai! She completely rocked as the semi-frozen-yet-hopeful Shau. How did they get her hair like that, I wonder. Musta been a pain to do it every day...and she's around my age! Yikes! O_O
Worst Acting: Sugiura Takayasu. Sorry Musashi, you just don't seem to have a wide range of emotions beyond genki, hopeful and inflamed.
Best Monster: Reija! Gotta love anything that swims through the air with such grace and ease, and has bright blue blood. Poor sod. Talking Anthro Reijas rock even more.
Worst Monster: Zandoras. Hello, four-split jaws went out of fashion with Demonzooa. Scorpis was passed up because they look vaguely cool when in flight (and ONLY IN FLIGHT!)
Best Scene: Musashi calling upon Cosmos amidst exploding Scorpis breath *coughnapalmcough*. Sugiura said during the filming of that scene, the cameraman got his hairdo singed. I'm not sure whether that echo was unintentional, but it sure seems like it is.
Worst Scene:Possibly Musashi vs. Ji'in. For the life of me, I can't figure out what they're doing.
Best Cameo: 'Munakata' and 'Iruma's sudden appearance in SRC higher-up uniforms. The actors had stints in Ultraman Tiga and Dyna (and alternate universes).
Worst Cameo: Sadly, neither 'Kariya' or 'Ryou', both from Ultraman Dyna, achieved any shininess as Team Sea members.
Best Pairing: Ji'in x Mari! Ji'in x Mari! So cuuuute!
Worst Pairing: Probably Musashi x Mari, because it just fell flat.
Best Music: The sudden appearance of that Tiga Gaiden opening instrumental.
Worst Music: Not much, because I like UM soundtracks, but...couldn't we have a new ED theme? I mean, I like Kimi ni Dekiru Nanika as much as the next dude, but...well...I still want a good movie ED theme. *nod*
Best Laugh:Ji'in's expression when Shau bukkake-d him with champagne. XD
Best Surprise: Musashi turning around, and seeing Cosmos and Justice there--Think of it as turning around and seeing your heart and lungs floating in the air behind you. ;) I keep forgetting Cosmos is connected/merged to the guy only in the loosest of senses.
Best Scene To Be Cut Out: Musashi telling Shau how new life only appears after marriage (now, now, don't give her any ideas, Musashi...although it's a good concept to remember...)

That's it! Fangirling complete! ^_^
