What is capitalism?

I rant about capitalism quite a bit, but I've never bothered to try to define exactly what it is I'm against. I'd like to start working on a definition for it. As always, dear reader, I welcome your input.

So far, all I've thought of is that capitalism allows for the ownership of resources that an individual or group cannot actually utilize themselves.
