I've been enjoying reading Violent Acres. Check out the "most popular articles" link at the top. I find the author's consistent, contextually-incorrect capitalization of words like "mother" and "father" to be kind of irritating, but otherwise she's a good writer.

So you'd prefer that a woman not compliment you at all? Is it the same as, as the author mentions, the woman calling herself fat or ugly or worthless?

Yeah, exactly. I'd rather receive specific compliments that show a real understanding of why something I've done deserves a compliment. That puts the complimenter on my level, rather than making them seem like an awestruck groupie.

There is no compliment like. "Yeah, you're right, I hadn't thought of it that way."

But, yeah, back in my day "I love your mind" meant "Your Mother dresses you funny."
