This morning when I got up, I went to the sliding glass door to look out at the sky, check for clouds, and Ringo saw me from the back rockery and came running, so I hurried into the kitchen and fixed him a little piece of peanut butter and bread.
Yes, I've actually named the little begger now. It's funny, I've never seen a fox squirrel with these markings, the very tip of his tail is black, and there are two visible dark rings along with the orange-tan usual coloration. Like his mama was a raccoon.
He isn't that tame yet....if I lean out a little too far while tossing the food to him, he'll back off and head for the crabapple tree. Which is probably for the best. I worry about not spotting him while letting the dogs out, or him associating humans with food too much and trying a less friendly house.
But he still comes up on the patio and looks in if there aren't any goodies out there under the hummingbird feeder's crook.
