Stuff and Nonsense
The new Terry Pratchett Discworld novel is out! Unseen Academicals...in which the wizard's university invents football (soccer). I'm hoping for at least one oblique Quidditch jab.
Took the dogs in to be groomed this morning, and stopped for breakfast at this old schoolhouse turned into a cafe. They were also having a fall crafts fair. Saw one woman knitting socks with some kind of circular loom machine? and trying to sell them for 20$ a pair. Good luck with that. And tacky quilts and a couple of people spinning. They were really just setting up as we left, so there might have been more.
Then for reasons only he would understand, Dad got worried about not hearing the sump pump go off during the light rain we had last night, and went down and tested it, decided it wasn't working, pulled it out, announced it was rusted out and we'd need a new one, then that it wasn't rusted out, it's plastic and it's just rust/mud caked onto the bottom, and the reason it wasn't working is that he didn't use enough water to test it. I don't even know. I think he just wanted to go play in the crawlspace.
And now we're off to home depot for hose clamps.
