The endless struggle between real life and vanderlife.

Well, well.  It turned out to be a good day to finally get a few things done.  Healthwise, timewise, weather-wise.  So, I got mustard up, and was ready to go, earlier than usual.  Combine that with that fact that my clock - already turned way back - is now way way back, because of the time change, and everything looked good.  I could take care of things at a relaxed, my-own pace.  I had taken care of send off all that info-mail to AAA and to Iowa Medicaid the day before.  So, today, I would finally get some van work done, and also pop in to 2 thrift stores, looking for a fan, by which I might dry my little, occasional hand-laundry loads.  Earlier, I made my Walmarts order, which included for groceries, and red rustoleum.  Yet - that work didn't do me asunder(!)

However, Iowa SNAP recently let me know they would be calling me at 2:pm today, to discuss my application.  I decided to be off, already, and try to take the call while downtown.  I parked the van, and walked to the first thrift store - but forgot to bring my phone!  (See, again, how, even on the best of days, I cannot get my shit together entirely?)  So, I just looked around in there, real quick, and hobbled back to the van.  I was, in fact, not feeling great - very low energy, etc.  It wasn't like the after-effects of the MOVE and the after-effects of COVID were suddenly absent from my body!  But, at least I have been very slowwwwwly catching up.  Still have to go to clinic for this UTI(!)

Left a message while at the van, and started walking - with my phone - to the second thrift store.  But, I was too exhausted.  I sat down at a bench.  And that's when I got the Iowa HHA call.  Which went pretty well.  But, they wanted more and more info.  I just happened to have much of that info in my bag, in one form or another.  So, I told them I would go to library and print that out and send it all to them NOW.  The Iowa SNAP people are also in touch with the Iowa MEDICAID people.  So, I also advised that they should look into the SSA info I had sent the latter, yesterday.

So, this meant forgoing van work for library work - AGAIN!  But, I got it all done did, and got it mailed out.  Also printed out forms they sent to me in the mean time.

By the time I got back to the van, the sun was almost on the horizon.  But, I decided to start working away on it, anyway.  If not now, then when?  So, spent time covering up much of the front window with newspaper.  Then climbed onto roof and sand-papered away.  Then I sprayed actual ANTI-RUST Rustoleum larger long the rust-band area - the "rust belt" - although wider than before.  Pretty much a very similar bright YELLOW.

In the back of my mind, I am slowly preparing for a sunrise mural for up there, but that won;t start until next year, if at all.  Right now, I am preparing for the long red band and accents.

By the time I got near the end - the back - of the rust band area, the spray-on paint beaded up and would not settle.  Why?  Well, last time, since I had run out of paint, I had used silicon, instead - normally meant to be sprayed onto clothes.  (Still gotta do that(!)  And I had not sanded NEARLY ENOUGH over that silicone patch.  So, I just really piled on more and more yellow, just hoping it wouldn't peel too soon in the future.  It took on the texture of very smooth by extensive acne.

OK, that was that.  All done, for now.  Took down the newspaper - saw that there was still a mist of yellow there anyway.  And I ran my wipers / wash but ran out of the latter.

Next TO-DO...  Must do more sanding.  Must run three long strips of Gorilla tape along that rust belt area.  Then spray over that with sealing yellow - adding more yellow to the roof, in prep for that mural, mainly.  Get that all done, maybe after getting a car wash first.  It gets so dirty up there.  All this farm dirt flying around.  Etc.

So, once that is done, I can lay down the red stripe and trimmings.  To do the latter, I will just spray into the can cap, and dip a brush into that, and brush much of the detailing done.

On top of the red strip, and a little more, I will spray silica or silicone.

Autistic boy is now going crazy in a loud, building-shattering way....

So, then it will all be done, on top, for 2023....  IF I do get that future work done...  Because it will be getting COLLLLD in a day or two!!!!!

But, the idea is that I might soon be able to focus on the bottom/sides now - or as soon as I can.  At least a little bit.  Might also paint line round top green - but probably not until 2024 on that.  I need to focus on mudflaps, possibly side skins, and maybe sealing up the big holes in the floor, somehow.  ALL OF WHICH WOULD REQUIRE MONEY, TIME AND TEDIOUS OR HARD WORK.  Things I don't really have.  Lol.  Life would be so much easier of I were Auttie.

OK - I can rest again.  Need to put on my NC Headphones, though, oh yeah.  Yep yep yep.
