Joe Deeds / Mister Dirt
A few weeks ago, I watched a movie on my cellphone, Joe Dirt. It was meant to be a bad movie. With much of its style - with how something was always around the corner - and with all the hot girls and so on - I quickly knew that Adam Sandler must be behind this movie and, yes, in fact he very much was. There are about 5 times when David Spade displayed clear imitation of Adam Sandler's acting directions, especially when "human" emotions were involved. I felt that this 2001 movie was a perfectly fine complete waste of time. So dorky and corny. Amusing, sometimes funny. Several stand-by Sandler stars show up, like Christopher Walken. So, here it is...

While watching, "Joe Dirt," I noticed it had some similarities to the 1941 Capra movie, "Meet John Doe," starring Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck and Walter Brennan. (Full movie HERE but not HD). In that movie, a news reporter turns John Doe into a populist star. Same initials as Joe Dirt: "J.D." I was also reminded of, "Airheads," (1994), which starred Adam Sandler and others, in which a radio DJ made the band a star. Both pretty good movies.
I was looking into whether I should watch some movie tonight, and came up with a possibility, although it is already late, which kind of runs in the same vein. But, first, there is another movie that set down the precedent for THIS movie, another Capra movie, starring Gary Cooper, and I am going to give those to you, now...
