Living In the BEST...
Jethro Tull. Singin' 'bout livin' in the past! What was up with dat?! I never thought that was a good idea. Until I realised that there were a few better things in the past than there are today. And there is only one road you can take into the future - what are the chances - ever - that that is the right one? Not many chances of it. Having a representative democratic republic is supposed to help us find one of the best roads into some future - but ALSO to help us make corrections after we have made mistakes - sometime after we have made BIG MISTAKES! Like the mistakes we have been making in past decades. Not to say everything done in recent decades was WRONG - but a lot of decisions made were critically BAD decisions. Harmful decisions. So, living in the past is not always such a bad idea. Especially when you realise that OUR past brought us a great wealth of Western wisdom and science and law and health and wealth and common sense and decency and fairness and compassion and so on - even as the psychopaths weaved their webs. The west has so far done the best job at bringing civilisation up from the level of the beast, and has exalted even the least amongst men. So, when you give a thought to living in the past, just remember, Go LIVING IN THE WEST.
Because it's the best, and don't you forget it.
