I had WORT on, yesterday, but was not able to appreciate thee music. A few hours ago, I started listening, rewind style. To the 2 reggae shows, then one of the 2 salsa shows. At the end of the latter pod, was the beginning of the old-style rock&roll show, "I Like It Like That." The song was, "But She's Not There." A pretty good and true version, but drums could have been better. After reading a post/comment by
bichoose, I felt like listening to this R&R show, which I once listed to every Saturday night, pretty much, esp. in Madison. I like to do an impersonation of the host, "Rockin' John," who has been around forever.
The music is usually great. There is often a theme show, like doo-wop, or surfer, or Beatles, or hippie, or some particular artist, and so forth. It's a great show to learn R&R, and like it like that. A really great Saturday night institution, it has been. Here is Saturday's show. (You can find last week's by going to the WORT Archives). It's a 1-day fund-drive day, so the show is interrupted a lot by Rockin' John and another WORT celebrity, Harry Rag. Unfortunately or not. Maybe you'll like hearing how they are in Madison.
I Like It Like That.
