Here is a video via

I usually think of the Doors as a kind of style-unto-itself, or a fairly unique bubble in the phenomenal froth of 1960's-1970's pop. I think of Jimmy Hendrix, the Animals, and others the same way. But, the fact is that this era was full of a lot of independent bands and styles, but which were also influencing each other. In this Doors video, one notices the psychedelic and early metal influences, and also, perhaps, some similarity to Kent, England's,
Canterbury Scene. This is a musical movement I became aware of when I discovered the band, Caravan, who put out several good albums. More on them later, if I haven't posted on them already. But, here is a video on the Canterbury Scene which was, despite it's relative obscurity, pretty influential, as on Brit-pop. I compare it to S. Cal's Paisley Underground scene.
