FINAL POST (?)

Mar 08, 2022 13:04

I am not going to be making any more entries here. Russia is supposedly 'leaving the internet' by March 15 and as early as March 11.  That's three days from now. But who know what will happen, or when.  (See other relevant articles at Vice).

I would like to send out an urgent call to the staff of LiveJournal to, at least, make a post about what they know may transpire regarding the future of their company and service. How will it impact American and Russian users, who have been devoted to, and invested in, LiveJournal for so many years. We need to know what you know, and what we might expect. It is regrettable that political affairs have reached the current state. It is obvious that their is disagreement within Russia, as there is strange reactive political dissonance in America and other countries. It is unfortunate that current geopolitical and socio-economic dynamics may be conspiring to make matters worse - though things could turn out better. This is a critical time. A very sad time. Hopefully, critical and sad is as bad as it will get.

In the meantime, as insanity transpires, we would all like to know what is happening with this once very free and fun platform! LiveJournal - where is your spirit? Where is your commitment? Whatever might happen - what are we to expect? Communicate to your faithful and lucrative users! Please.

My journey here on LJ, since 2004, has been a deeply rewarding, disturbing, enriching, comforting, enraging, and helpful experience. I have met many interesting, true, crazy, and inspiring LJ friends along the way. Despite losing friends along the way, for so many reasons, I have still been motivated, and rewarded, to keep going on. What a long strange trip it's been. I am grateful to LJ, and all of the people I have met, and become actual friends with. But I am not dead yet. I have to see this huge loss - this sorry crutch I have relied upon during the years of my illness, now puled out from under me - as a new beginning, however that can be done. I'd like LJ to keep on truckin', but I certainly cannot assume that it shall, at this point. So, I must accept that this is goodbye. Perhaps Imay be pleasantly surprised again, and all will be well, but the point of expecting that is past, at least for the moment.

Thank you all for being a part of my life, and respecting the stupid and profound observations I have recorded here. You have all enlightened me, in one way or another, and you are all very special individuals, even those of you with whom I have falling-outs. In many cases, I was to blame, because I was personally frustrated, and tormented by migraines and alcohol. I am sorry! In other cases, I was right - what can I say?! Lol. But, LJ is apparently done, now, and none of that really mattered. We don't have to squabble for attention or respect in forum that is become virtually vapourised. Hopefully, you all - the cream of the crop of humanity in many ways - will realise that this is a very dangerous time for the world, and we need to rise above that now, and may have to rise above it in harder ways down the road. I hope not. For those of you who have not heard some of the things I was trying to say, maybe you might reconsider now, at this timee, and ponder alone about things, and come to your own discoveries.

These tragedies never had to happen.

I want to stay in touch with any of you who wish the same. Even if you are no longer an LJ friend - even if we parted in rage or even hate - please send me your contact information: DW? email? Phone? Anything you want. Just to stay in touch, and maybe build something in the future - maybe a new LJ, who knows?! Contact me here, (screen your comments); message me here; get in touch via one of my communities; or one of my other LJ's; get in touch via DW, where I am "madman101" - you can find a way! I want to keep in touch, or at least have a tab on you. Because, for one thing, it is very sad that we are all being ripped apart as if we are nothing. But, I know that this pain is nothing compared to what the victims of war are experiencing. I can't even say how much I regret their plight, or the mistakes that have been made or suffered by everyone, leading up to this absurd breach.

Please keep in touch! Or - get in touch! We thought we were strong. Here's how we prove it.

You can make a copy of your LJ at blogbooker.com. My experience there has been disappointing, but, at least I am presently downloading the rest of my LJ even as we speak. Hopefully, this works! I already have 2017-2022, which is the part not imported on DW. Now, let me advise you regarding blogbooker: The only time the process worked for me was when I did it in PDF format, not in DOC. Don't waste minutes trying DOC. PDF can be converted later if you want to edit it. I spent $30 for 11 books, but they ate up my minutes after only the first book. I had to keep badgering them to give me back minutes, and they acted like I was the problem. It's a scam, but it does work. Do your entire journal all at once. The LJ servers often stop the process, which results in you losing minutes, and possibly your whole plan. The people at BB customer service will replenish your minutes, but up to a point. They are really snooty about it. It doesn't seem like this is an American company. The best time I found to do the process - i.e., the time when the Russian servers were least likely to break, was about 8:am, Central Time. The free version of BB won't let you do much. Keep badgering them every time you wrongly lose minutes! However, it will be there after your paid plan expires, so at least that's something.

DreamWidth had been able to import LJs into your mirror journals there. However, that function - along with the ability to xpost from DW to LJ - became so problematic for DW, that they finally gave up, and the import function is usually not functional. (I don't know of other platforms where these functions may still be available, but the problems are probably serious enough that they no longer work, as well). One thing you can do is to copy and paste your entries, from LJ to DW, manually - OR, better, by copying via LJ EXPORT. As I've said, this LJ function is very fast, and very useful to at least obtaining your posts - I believe also from your communities - as a permanent record, though in HTML code. I will be working on downloading via IMPORT for the next few days. It will download links for pics, but if those pics are stored in your LJ scrapbook, then I guess they will no longer be viewable. (Just a note: My latest attempt to gather the rest of my LJ via blogbooker has failed due to LJ servers, and so I emailed BB again, demanding more minutes! So crazy!)

WAYBACK MACHINE can apparently import only public posts - (but I have not tried that yet).

Please add me at dreamwidth!

I will not be deleting this journal for the time being. I may delete it in a few days. If LJ is still around within the next year, deleted journals can be undeleted. I may concern myself with the problem of credit card, password, and other information. DW has informed that there was a security problem w/ LJ passwords in the pass, wherein they were sold on the black market.

OK, I am signing off, now. There might be one or two posts later, maybe not.

It has been very wonderful knowing, and interacting with, and learning from, you all. I hope you make posts, and contact LJ, asking for some information from LJ ASAP!! This post is Public because I am also reaching out to people who are not current LJ friends. If I don't see, or hear from, any one of you again, I want you to be as happy as you can be, and to spread what you know to as many people as you can, keeping the world free in spirit. Please preserve our precious environment. Please respect alternate views, genders, cultures and reasonings. Always look beyond what they say is science and study the true science. God does not have to be a dividing word and may be alive in all the universe, compatible with science. Your consciousness does not stop where you stand, in space nor in time. Everything you think and do has an effect and life of its own. Fight whenever you must, but only for love, and the right to live decently and free. We have touched each other beyond the touch of keyboards, and what we have said each and every day, will last forever, even as you sleep, and even as you dream, and even as you pass away into the great dark blanket enveloping us all, which we call the universe. We have always been stars, and never alone. Each of us began as a will, as a wish, as a word.

Goodnight! I wish you all the best of luck! Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Whatever happens, know that when you die, it will be just fine. Everything will be just fine.

If this all blows over, and LJ is still here, then that will be something extra special. Something I never planned on! I will even sign up as a contact person to help get LJ expanded again in the USA! But, that is just a dream. So, until we ever meet again, goodbye!

Welcome To Friendsies!
Find the movie HERE or HERE and WATCH.

Watch the apocalypse explanation on MAD MAX 2: ROAD WARRIOR - or find it on Alex Jones Show - Start at minute ONE.  (Believe it or not, Jones is not warmongering, unlike others on the right!)

When I was a little boy, there was an album of classical music hits that I listened to, so beautiful..  Like, the Barcarolle, from Offenbach's, Takes of Hoffmann.  Handel was a German that the English adopted as their own - so Offenbach was a German whom the French adopted as their own.  Offenbach made some very rollicking music, including can-can music, and was very popular - similar to Tchaikovsky's popularity.  A high school friend of mine once ridiculed me for liking Offenbach, laughing that he was the Barry Manilow of classical music.  But good music is good music, whether everybody likes it or not.  The other night, the beautiful barcarolle - which was embedded in a very lively opera btw - showed on my radio, playing quietly in the dark.  And I thought about how this music was meant to survive the end of the world.  How many people would throw themselves into the destruction who could rather be loving such beauty?  How could such tragedies occur when there could be such music?  Think of all the people who are dying - all those have died and will die soon - while this music just keeps turning silently in the night like a galaxy offering nothing, nothing but hope, which is all we are, and all we were ever made for.  As war goes on, there is still this:

Idiocracy.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

LJ - PLEASE SPEAK UP !

end of world
